Sahyadri hosts Toastmasters International Leadership Training Programme

Sahyadri hosts Toastmasters International Leadership Training Programme Toastmasters International Leadership Training & Club Interaction Programme was organized in Sahyadri Campus on Sunday, 5th August 2018. The event was attended by various clubs under Division F. The office bearers of all the clubs underwent training for their respective designated roles. The event began with a presentation of duties and responsibilities by Coaches. A panel discussion moderated by TM Molly Chaudhari discussed on concepts of pathways. The use of digital pathways was explained. DTM Gayathri became the first DTM in India to complete her ice-breaker through pathways.

Two-Day Advanced FDP for First year Engineering Faculty A Two-Day Advanced Faculty Development Programme (FDP) was conducted for the teaching faculty facilitating classes for the first year engineering students. Mr. A H Sagar, an International Educationist was the resource person. He conducted activity-based training and imparted the unique techniques of teaching. The participating faculty presented a topic of their choice based on which their colleagues evaluated the presentation and their class management skills. During the FDP, Mr. Manjunath Bhandary, Chairman, Bhandary Foundation; Dr. Umesh M Bhushi, Director–Strategic Planning and Prof. S S Balakrishna, Vice-Principal addressed the faculty about the importance being humanely connected with the students rather than just subject matter delivery.

Sacred Geometry: From Entertainment, Refinement and Enlightenment Perspective Dr. S Ramakrishna Sharma held three sessions, an hour each, on Sacred Geometry in Ivarmalai Anaadi Foundation venue. Anaadi Foundation celebrated its annual day recently which was attended by dedicated volunteers from different states. Dr. Sharma was invited for delivering three talks on practices of our Rishis which facilitated expansion of individual consciousness. Sacred Geometry is a topic drawn from the Tantra Tradition of Shree Chakra. Dr. Sharma took the minds of the audience to the fundamental forms of the Five Great Elements namely Aakasha, Vaayu, Agni, Aapah and Prithivi.

Refinement of speech, thought and actions is brought about by practices using Mandalas, Chakras and Padma patterns.

Enlightenment is the culmination of expansion of individual consciousness when the Spiritual Reality is realized as one’s own centre.

Dr. Sharma also interacted with Padmashree Awardee Dr. P R Krishnakumar, Chancellor of Avinashilingam University who visited Anaadi Foundation to address the gathering. Dr Sharma briefed him about research in Indian Scientific Heritage Awareness and Applications.

Roadmap of Information Science & Engineering for Second Year Students Roadmap of Information Science & Engineering for Second Year Students Orientation programme for Third Semester students of Information Science & Engineering was organized by the Department of Information Science & Engineering. Dr. R Srinivasa Rao Kunte, Principal was the guest of honour for the day. He stressed on the importance of dedication to one’s own profession and stated the similarities between Information Science and Computer Science. He advised the students that by taking small steps and being focused in life they can achieve their goals.

Dr. Shamanth Rai, Head of the Department gave a brief overview of the department, highlighted the opportunities students have in Information Science and Engineering field. He spoke about the current trends and role of an engineer in IT industry.

Prof. Ravinchandra Rangappa, Dean-Industry Connect conveyed the importance of industry connects and the intent with which industries is setup in the college.

Prof. Sudheer Shetty, Dean-Examinations gave an insight of the CBCS examination system. He stressed on the importance of scoring 9 CGPA in curriculum. Prof. Jayapadmini Kanchan stressed on the importance of placements and the criteria of placements. She also shared the statistics of placement offers for the ISE students. Prof. Madhura Hegde highlighted the importance of projects and gave details about the SPSS projects. Prof. Balaji N gave insights about the various professional bodies for which students can be members and also highlighted the advantages of membership. Prof. Prakhyath Rai shared the information about online certification courses such as EdX, NPTEL etc and also its importance in defining their career.
