An Alumni Symposium titled “ThinkTank Meet on the Post Covid Era- The New Normal” was organised by the Dept. of Business Administration.
Dr. Rajesha S, Principal expressed his pleasure of hosting ThinkTank Meet and encouraged the dept. to organise more of such valuable sessions. Dr. Vishal Samartha, Director, Dept. of Business Administration, expressed her deep happiness to her students achieving success at every path of their career.
Think Tank included 7 eminent speakers and Alumni of the MBA dept.
Mr. Nishar Hussain
Think Tank Meet on the Post Covid Era- New Normal paved a way for Mr. Nishar Hussain to recollect his memories of Sahyadri. He said the world faced recession in 2000s and came up with many solutions. Temporarily, it is true that we are facing many problems but it will not stay for a long period of time. He said we need to update with the current technology to achieve success in career.
Mr. Shabarish S. Rao
Mr. Shabarish S. Rao, Area Retail Manager, Aditya Birla Fashion & Retail Ltd., gave an insight into how as students we must Survive, Review and Drive ourselves through this pandemic. Stay healthy, decide which industry to work on and upgrade yourselves, he urged. There is no second chance in today’s world, he warned. Individuals should be flexible without having any location constraints and must be able to adapt to changes. He concluded his talk by saying, “Let’s not lose hope!”
Dr. Anandsa Habib
Dr. Anandsa Habib, Audit Officer, Karnataka State Audit and Accounts Department, Vijayapur gave insight into how this COVID era affected the government sector. The revenue of the government has reduced, which will hamper the development. Government has come up with Mudra Yojana and unsecured loans to MSME. As MSMEs are affected, the challenge for government is to bring things back on track. He also said that the government has reduced the intake at the moment, but in near future there will be many recruitments coming up. He concluded his talk by saying, “Let’s not lose hope!”
Mr. Roystan Wilson D’Souza
Mr. Roystan Wilson Dsouza stressed on how one can be productive in this Lockdown period and insisted that students make use of the time to learn new skills and have a strong hold on Power Point, Excel, CV & prepare for mock interviews and also develop good network with good people.
Mr. Avinash Beermale
Mr. Avinash Beermale, Search Analyst – Digital Marketing, HP Inc., Bangalore, encouraged students to look at the positive side of the post COVID environment, where everyone is starting from Ground Zero. He also acknowledged the push given by COVID-19 on the Digital Marketing field by opening up new possibilities where the world is moving towards online and Digital Marketing being the next big thing.
Mr. Dhillon Dixon D’Souza
Mr. Dhillon Dixon D’Souza, Sales and Marketing Manager, Mobis Parts, Middle East, Dubai gave statistical insights about the effect of Covid-19 on the 5 majorly impacted industries viz. Aviation, Transport, Travel and Tourism, Food and Hospitality and Automobile.
Mr. Dhillon advised the crowd not to think of a crisis where jobs do not exist, but instead focus on developing communication, presentation, technical and digital media skills and insisted on attending computer training. He further suggested taking check points from the mentors on improvement and then work on those points. He concluded saying Covid-19 might slow down the Job Market but if a person is skilled nothing can impact his/her existence in the corporate.
Mr. Adithya Kollaje
During the concluding part of the session, Mr. Adithya Kollaje, Recruitment Specialist, Juniper Networks, Bengaluru spoke. He cleared a main doubt most of the students are facing presently which is how the intermediate semester students getting promoted, is going to impact their recruitment. The speaker clearly insisted that the students work on skill development to tackle this problem and also shared his experience in the field of recruitment. Numerous insights on the opportunities in the post COVID era were specified by the speaker which will make every student industry-ready.

Dr. Ananth Prabhu G., Professor, Dept. of Computer Science & Engineering, published his latest Research work titled “Electroencephalogram for Epileptic Seizure Detection using stacked Bidirectional LSTM GAP in Evolutionary Intelligence, Springer Nature publication.
Abstract of the Paper:
Electroencephalogram is the widely used tool for detecting seizure. In this Paper we have proposed long short term memory, a deep learning based approach for seizure detection. Global average pooling layers is applied to obtain excellent results in classifying seizure events.

Training and Placement - Company Specific Training for the Engineering Students
The Company Specific Training for the 3rd Year Engineering students of all branches from the 2021 Outgoing Batch has completed the 4th week. Approximately 300 students attended the training via GoogleMeet. The training this week was specific to IBM and Capgemini.
Personality Assessment and Gaming round for IBM and Capgemini were covered during the sessions. These are the primary rounds for qualifying:
Personality Assessment: This paper checks the personality of the students and decides if they fit into the
company or not. They focus mainly on the maturity levels of the students.

Conclusion of the Five Days Online Workshop on Responsive Web Development using PHP
A Five Days Online Workshop on Responsive Web Development using PHP organized by the Department of Computer Science & Engineering was concluded on 31st July'2020. The Workshop was organized in collaboration with Aptra Technologies Pvt. Ltd. and in association with Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE), Computer Society of India (CSI) and Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).
Mr. Srinath K.S., Software Engineer at Aptra Technologies Pvt. Ltd illustrated on the trending Web technologies, benefits of Web Applications and editors used for Web Application development. He demonstrated the working with BootStrap using Java Script & Cascading Style Sheets. He highlighted on the Model View Controller concepts with Pre-requisites for cakePHP.
Mr. Srinath also discussed the Working with XAMPP server which was essential for the Effective and Responsive Web Development. Dr. Naveen Kumar B., Software Engineer at Aptra Technologies Pvt. Ltd gave an overview of CRUD (Create, Read, Update, Delete) operations in the database. Further, he demonstrated on the working of the operations with login panel example.
Dr. Shreyas Suresh Rao, Associate Professor, Dept. of Computer Science & Engineering expressed his gratitude to the Resource Persons Mr. Srinath K S and Dr. Naveen Kumar B. He also expressed his special gratitude to participants for their active participation and in making the FDP successful. Quiz was conducted at the end of the session. Prof. Asha B. Shetty, Dept. of Information Science & Engineering secured the Top Score among the participants.
