MBAs visit HMT Limited, Kalamassery Unit, Kerala

MBA students along with their mentors visited HMT Limited Kalamassery unit at Cochin, Kerala. The printing machinery division of HMT Limited was set up in North Kalamassery in 1972 and the major products here are printing machine and a programmable guillotine. It also produces various products such as flexible turning cells, CNC turning cells, copying lathes, centre lathes and CNC twin spindle chuckers.

Students got the opportunity to visit the production area and also met the Chief Security Officer and The General Manager of HMT Ltd. After the industrial visit, the students had a fun-filled time at Wonderla followed by a tour to India’s largest mall – The LuLu Mall and after which they took the Cochin famous tourist attraction – The Cochin Backwaters Boat Ride and Mangrove forest sightseeing. The tour was concluded by a visit to the Cochin’s beautifully lit Marine Drive. These three days of visit helped the students get a wonderful first hand exposure into the functioning of major industries and also enabled the students to taste the vibrant-cultural flavours of Kerala. The tour helped create a stronger bond between the mentor and mentees.

Introduction of the Mentor:
Prof. Ajith B S, has obtained his B.E degree in Mechanical Engineering from Rajeev Institute of Technology, Hassan and M.Tech degree in Thermal Power Engineering from VTU-RC Mysuru. Currently he is pursuing his Ph.D from VTU, Belagavi. He is a Co-Principal Investigator for a Research Project titled “Production of Biodiesel from fish oil on Extracting Omega-3 fatty acid from fish oil" under research Promotion Scheme (RPS) funded by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi. He also guided three Projects funded by KSCST, Government of Karnataka and one Project funded by VTU Belagavi. He published research articles in three International and five national Journals. His Research areas are Alternative Fuels, Renewable Energy and Internal Combustion Engines. He has been in the teaching field for the last four years handling subjects such as Basic Thermodynamics, Applied Thermodynamics, Fluid Mechanics, Turbo Machines, Heat and Mass Transfer, Power Plant Engineering. He is a life member of ISTE (Indian Society for Technical Education).

• Nikhil Kulal is from Mangaluru. He did his schooling from Canara High School, Mangaluru and PUC from Sharada P U College, Mangaluru. His hobbies are playing football cricket & travelling. He aspires to join Indian Navy as a Naval Officer.
• Sanket Rao is from Sirsi. He did his schooling from National High School, Gujrath and did his PUC from Mahasatee PU College Karwar. His hobbies include playing cricket & Photography. He aspires to become an Entrepreneur.
• Nikhil is from Mangaluru. He did his schooling from Milagres High School, Mangaluru and PUC from St. Aloysious PU College, Mangaluru. His hobbies are playing football, cricket, Photography & Drawing. He aspires to become a Thermal Engineer.
• Sujith is from Udupi, he completed his high school from G.M Vidyanikethan Public School Brahmavar, and PUC from Trisha PU College, Udupi. His hobbies are playing football & cricket. He aspires to become an Entrepreneur.
• Gagan Shetty is from Mangaluru. He completed his high school from Sri Ramakrishna High School, Mangaluru and PUC from Dr. NSAM PU College, Mangaluru. His hobbies include Singing, Essay Writing, and Calligraphy. He wants to pursue higher studies in top foreign universities.
• Akshay Purushotam K.C is from Kannur-Kerala. He completed his high school and PUC from Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Kerala. His hobbies are playing cricket, Table Tennis, and Weight Lifting. He aspires to have a job in core Mechanical Industry.

Prof. Sikha K V was working as a Technology Analyst in Infosys Ltd. for about 6 years. Her area of specialization is in Signal Processing.

• Dhanush N is from Puttur. He completed his 10th from Vivekananda Kannada Medium School, Puttur and PU from Vivekananda PU College. His hobbies include drawing, painting and beat boxing. He participated in state level higher drawing grade during his 10th and got distinction. His aspiration is to become a Robotic Engineer.
• Krishma is from Kodagu. She completed her 10th from Lions High School and PU from Vidyanikethana PU College. Her hobbies include drawing and reading novels. She participated in district level chess competition during 10th and won prizes in interclass drawing competition during PU. She aspires to become a successful engineer, a good communicator as well as an innovator.
• Pawan is from Puttur. He completed his 10th from Vivekananda English Medium School and PU from Ambika PU College. His hobbies include photography and gaming. He has secured junior certificate in Karnataka music. His aspiration is to build his own assistant using Artificial Intelligence.
• Sarvesh Naik is from Karwar. He completed his 10th from BGS Central School Mirjan, Kumta and PU from Sharada PU College Kodialbail, Mangaluru. His hobbies include research in robotics science and sports. He has secured II place in volleyball and II place in chess. He aspires to become an entrepreneur in Robotics field.
• Trupthi is from Mangaluru. She completed her 10th from Ladyhill Victoria Girls High School and PU from Canara PU College. Her hobbies include dancing and reading novels. She has secured junior dance certificate in Bharatanatyam. She aspires to become a successful entrepreneur.
• Prajwal. S is from Chickamagalore. He completed his 10th from Fathima English Medium High School and PU from St Philomena PU College. His hobbies include listening to music and playing games. He participated in district level volleyball tournament and won the 2nd prize. He aspires to join Indian Navy and serve the nation.
• Bhakthi P Alva is from Shimoga. She completed her 10th from Jnanaadeepa School and PU from Aurobindo PU College. Her hobbies include reading novels and gardening. She participated in district level throw ball and basketball tournament. She aspires to join Air Force and serve the nation.
