70th Anniversary of the Republic Day Celebrated at Sahyadri  The 70th Anniversary of the Republic Day was celebrated in the campus with hoisting the national flag by the Chief Guest - Mr. Sai Krishna Rao, General Manager-Education & Training, Schneider Electric.

70th Anniversary of the Republic Day Celebrated at Sahyadri  70th Anniversary of the Republic Day Celebrated at Sahyadri Mr. Sai Krishna Rao has over 30 years of experience in roles such as Vice-President, Business Head, Senior Consultant, General Manager-Operations and so on in various corporate organizations. He is certified to lead programmes by Landmark Worldwide, Harvard Business Publishing, Wipro Technologies Ltd, Franklin Covey and many others. He has been rigorously trained for 7 years at Landmark Worldwide in Ontology-Transformation of Life for Human Beings.

While addressing the gathering, Mr. Sai Krishna appreciated the Quality of Education imparted at Sahyadri and also the Engagement level of Teachers with Students. He had words of praise for the in-house companies and start-ups and highlighted the X-Factors of these companies which he was delighted about.

Acknowledging the efforts of people and their long struggle to form the constitution, Mr. Sai Krishna posed two questions to the audience to ponder on this auspicious occasion. First – What you want your life to be about – Is it what you want or what the World wants? Second – What do you want your country to be represented for – Imitate other countries and strive to catch up to their level or capitalize its rich cultural heritage and value system and be a Rare India? He re-iterated the potential of the country and urged the students (as they are the future of the nation) to collaborate in solving the problems of the nation. He concluded his words saying that there is a great future for Sahyadri with its unique features.

Post his speech; students recited Bankim Chandra’s, “Vande Mataram”, the National Song. Later, the winners of Nationwide Women’s Law Awareness Quiz competition were awarded. A weeklong sport event was held for the faculty and the prizes were distributed on this forum. Dr. R Srinivasa Rao Kunte, Principal; Mr. Balakrishna S S, Vice-Principal, Dr. Rajesha, Dean-Academics, HODs of various departments and the Company Heads were also part of the occasion.

IS Student selected as the Google Developer Students Club Lead for the YR 2019-2020

Akshay Ram Bhat from Third Year of Information Science and Engineering has been selected as the Developer Student Club lead for the year 2019-2020. He is also the Technical Lead and an active member of Sahyadri Open Source Community (SOSC). Developer Students' Club is a Google Developers programme for university students, designed to help them build their mobile and web development skills and knowledge. It is intended to be a space for students to learn and collaborate as they solve mobile and web development problems.

Civil Engineering Faculty served as one of the organizing committee members for a Five-Day Short Term Training Programme at NITK, Surathkal Prof. Sanjith S Anchan, Dept. of Civil Engineering successfully served as one of the organising committee member of Five-Day Short Term Training Programme on “Modelling & Simulation of Micro and Macro Multiphase Systems (MS3MS – 2019)” organized by Chemical Engineering Department, NITK, Surathkal. Prof. S Pushpavanam, IIT Madras; Prof. M Chidambaram, IIT Madras; Prof. S Vengadesan, IIT Madras; Prof. Tanmay Basak, IIT Madras; Dr. Amol A Kulkarni, NCL Pune; Dr. T Renganathan, IIT Madras; Dr. Jason Picardo, ICTS Bengaluru were few among 13 resource people who delivered their expertise lectures during the training programme. MRPL, Mangaluru, Shell Technology Centre, Bengaluru, Priyant S, Innovent Engg Sol Pvt Ltd, Bengaluru were some industries who shared their practical approach to industrial problems among participants. The training programme also included 4 sessions of Hands-on training on ANSYS and ASPEN software’s.
