Wing Commander Praveen Chandra Pant visited Sahyadri Sahyadri is graced by the visit of Wing Commander Praveen Chandra Pant. He is Commanding Officer of the 6 Karnataka Air Squardon, NCC. He discussed about starting a NCC unit at our campus. He met and interacted with the chairman and appreciated the institution’s effort in putting ideas and skill generation into implementation towards building a great nation.

He said that the institution has very intricately modeled the dreamer spirits of the youth into implementable, concrete ideas that can evolve into factual products and services for the society. Furthermore, he expressed his view that the startup cum laboratory-workshop cum entrepreneur collaboration is a perfect setup to get ideas into motion.

Researcher from HAN University of Applied Sciences, Netherlands visits Sahyadri

Researcher from HAN University of Applied Sciences, Netherlands visits Sahyadri Rakshith Kusumakar, Researcher, HAN University of Applied Sciences, Netherlands, visited the campus. During his visit he interacted with the faculty and students of Mechanical Engineering. He gave an overview of various automotive projects that are being carried out at HAN University. He also stressed on the importance of IOT and its application in the intelligent transport systems. Furthermore, he delved into the next generation automobiles that could solve many of the existing challenges. He also discussed about the possible internship opportunities for the students of Sahyadri at HAN University, Netherlands. The Department of Mechanical Engineering is also planning to take up collaborative research projects along with Han University under various Indo-Dutch joint research programmes.

Students and staff pay their respects to the martyrs on Martyr’s Day Students and staff pay their respects to the martyrs on Martyr’s Day In commemoration of the great sacrifice done by our ancestors, freedom fighters and soldiers for our nation’s freedom, the staff and students paid their respects by observing a 2-minutes silence. Prof. S. Balakrishna, Vice Principal, led the staff in the commemoration.

30th January is the date observed as Martyr's Day at the national level. This date goes down in history as it marks the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi in 1948. On this day, the President, the Vice President, the Prime Minister, the Defence Minister and three service chiefs gather at the Raj Ghat Memorial and lay wreaths decorated with multi-colour flowers. The armed forces personnel blow bugles sounding the Last Post. The inter-services contingent reverses arms as a mark of respect. A two-minute silence in memory of Indian martyrs is observed throughout the country at 11 am. Tributes are sung and all-religion prayers are held.

Campus Recruitment Drive - Larsen & Toubro Infotech

Campus Recruitment Drive Larsen & Toubro Infotech (LTI) visited Sahyadri to conduct a 2-day Pool Campus Drive for the Computer Science, Information Science, and Electronics & Communication Engineering students of 2019 outgoing Batch and 2018 passed out batch.

Dr. Rahul P., Campus Recruitment PSC from LTI, was at the campus to facilitate the recruitment process. A total of 163 students from 2019 batch participated in the recruitment drive, out of which, 13 were selected. The results of 2018 passed out batch are awaited.

Dr. Manjappa Director, Research is a Resource Person at AICTE-ISTE sponsored programme Dr. Manjappa Director – Research, was invited as a Resource Person at a ICTE-ISTE sponsored One-week induction/refresher programme "Recent Advances in Smart Grid technology". The programme was organised by Department of Electrical Engineering, University B.D.T College of Engineering, Davengere. During the session, Dr. Manjappa emphasised that Smart grid is inevitable in the upcoming future. Dr. Basavaraj Banekar, Registrar (Evaluation), Davengere University, Dr. Shivaprasad Principal, University B.D.T College of Engineering, Davengere, Dr. Ashok Kusagoor, Department of Electrical Engineering, were present during the session.

Introduction of Mentor
Adesh Padival B has 2 years of teaching experience. He pursued his B.E. in Mechanical Engineering from Visvevaraya Technological University (VTU), Belagavi and M.Tech in Engineering Management from Manipal University. He has published research papers in reputed journals and presented his ideas at two conferences. His areas of interest are bio-diesel systems, machine design and total quality management.

Nishan Rai is from Manjeshwara. He pursued his high school and PUC in Canara C.B.S.E High School, Mangalore. His hobbies include painting, sketching, playing cricket and football. He completed grade examination in sketching. He aspires to work in a reputed MNC after his graduation.
H. Prathvish Hegde is from Kundapura. He pursued his high school in St. Pius English Medium High School, Kundapura and PUC in RN Shetty PU College, Kundapura. His hobbies include playing cricket and kabaddi. He is a good chess player also. He aspires to a become design engineer in an automobile company after his graduation.
Rohit Joshi is from Karwar. He pursued his high school in St. Joseph’s High School, Karwar and PUC in Premier College, Karwar. His hobbies include playing cricket. He has represented Sahyadri in VTU Athletic Meet held in Chikkamagalur. He aspires to work in a reputed manufacturing firm after his graduation.
Mohammad Ismail is from Bantwala. He pursued his high school in Govt. High School, Sagipamooda, Bantwala and PUC in Govt. PU College, Sagipamooda. His hobbies are playing badminton and chess. He aspires to work in aerospace industry after his graduation.
Ankush K.J. is from Subrahmanya. He pursued his high school in Kumaraswamy Vidyalaya and PUC from SS PU College, in Subrahmanya. His hobbies include collecting coins. He is a national level karate champion. He aspires to work in a reputed firm after his graduation.
Swaraj B. Puthran is from Surathkal. He pursued his high school in Sri Mahalingeshwara School, Surathkal and PUC in Sharada PU College, Mangalore. His hobbies include playing cricket and wrestling. He is a state level champion in wrestling. He possesses acting skills and has acted in Tulu film. He aspires to work in a reputed design company after his graduation.

Ankush is from B.C. Road. He pursued his high school in SLNP Vidyalaya, Panemangalore, and PUC in Vivekanada PU College, Puttur. He is interested in technical quiz. In sports his interests are in shuttle badminton and volley ball. He aims to take up career in technical automotive design and aviation.
Gurukiran is from Kasargod. He pursued his high school at Shree Gajanana English Medium High School, Iswaramangala, and PUC at Canara PU College, Mangaluru. Where sports are concerned, his interests lie in playing kabbaddi and volley ball. His hobbies are drawing, sketching and reading technical related literature. His aim is to become an automobile designer.

Interested hobbies are riding, travelling to different places and also reading good technical literature. His aspiration is to work with a research team to innovate ideas or solutions for societal problems.
M. Mohammed Raqueeb is from Mangalore. He pursued his high school as well as PUC in Presidency School, Mangalore. He is interested in playing cricket, volley ball and carom. He also loves reading. He wishes to pursue higher studies in Marine Engineering.

Rachana M. Shetty is from Adyar, Mangalore. She pursued her high school in Presidency School, Mangalore and PUC in Sharada PU College, Mangalore. Her hobbies include painting, photography and reading. She has a soft side towards animals especially dogs and wishes to build a shelter for the abandoned dogs and take care of them. She aspires to work for a top company for few years and has plans to start her own company in due course.
Shetty Vaibhav Suresh is from Kenja, Mangalore. He pursued his high school in St Xavier’s School, Bhujkutch, Gujarat and PUC in Sharada PU College, Mangaluru. He holds interests in reading and listening to music. He aspires to work in a reputed MNC after his graduation.
Suma Gowri is from Bolar, Mangalore. She pursued her high school in Sarojini Madhusudan Kushe School and PUC in Sharada PU College, Mangalore. Her hobbies include playing badminton and she is a good singer too. She aspires to work as a good software developer after her graduation.
