“FEEL Teacher-Freedom & Punishment” faculty development programme gets underway in the Campus.

The three days training programme “FEEL Teacher-Freedom & Punishment” was inaugurated by the Principal, Dr. U. M. Bhushi. He highlighted that fear cannot be the essence of teaching and suggested that the faculty should utilize these training outcomes in day to day life. He emphasized that the students should benefit from the faculty development program as these aim at not only making us successful but more importantly an effective teacher. The resource person of the training programme, Prof. Sunney Tharappan, Director, CLHRD stated that his greatest happiness is to work with faculty who are more open to changes. The most important division of labour is helper, and teacher is the most powerful tool that comes under the helper category. He emphasized that teachers influence more in a collective way than parents, and added that no profession is as powerful as the profession of a teacher.

Prof. Sunney Tharappan, is a thinker, writer, master facilitator and a trainer, but most of all a teacher researching on the development of human resource. Through the FEEL-Teacher programme, he has trained over 16000 teachers across India and Sri Lanka.

The training programme will help the participants understand the concepts of freedom and punishment, build an attitudinal change towards the students, identify skills to become an effective teacher, influence them to make necessary changes in the strategies, methods and techniques of classroom functioning, and assist in assessing themselves by introducing different stages and methods of assessments of performance.

Twenty eight faculty members are participating in this programme. The programme was co-ordinated by Dr. Molly Chaudhuri, HoD, Department of Training.
