Sahyadri Research Group at IIT Bombay

Prof. Dr. Richard Pinto, Dr. Niraj Joshi, Dr. Navin N Bappalige and Dr. Jayarama, Sahyadri research group members of Center for Excellence in Nanoscience and Technology (CENT) had a discussion with Prof. Dr. Siddhartha P. Duttagupta, Department of Electrical Engineering, IITB about the initiation of fabrication work on in-vitro body energy harvester devices. Prof. S.P. Duttagupta is one of the Co-investigators of the DST-Nanomission proposal submitted by Sahyadri College of Engineering and Management on “Development of prototype piezoelectric cantilever based body energy harvester devices for in-vitro applications”, total funding being INR 2.97 crores. Dr. Jayarama A is working on this project as a Principal Investigator. Management of Sahyadri is contributing substantially in this effort.

Mr. B. M. Patil & Ms. Deeksha Bhandari interacts with the new entrants

Mr. B. M. Patil, founder & president of Shri. B. M. Patil Foundation had interacted with the new entrants to the engineering at the campus. He shared his experience of studying in United States of America. He said Engineering is not just about learning theory in the classrooms but instead it has also to do with practical applications.

In his motivational speech, he gave a call to the students to come up with innovative ideas and bring them into reality. He also emphasized on some of the critical applications of Engineering.

Ms. Deeksha Bhandari, student, London school of Economics & Political Science, had also interacted with the new entrants and shared her personal experience on how to make a difference and be different from the rest of the world. She began with the concept of “ME” in connection to which she delivered the talk. She mentioned the importance of resume and said that leadership skills, personal skills and achievements are most important factors that one’s resume should carry in it. She stressed on taking up internships for the students which further creates employment opportunities. She emphasized the importance of team spirit and building relationships for better connectivity. Lastly she mentioned that to achieve something in life, staying committed to whatever you do is the key factor.
