An Interaction on Sahyadri E-Learning Master Plan for Students’ Best Learning Experience Post Covid was held
An Interaction with Faculty on transforming the mode of learning to online mode was held on 10th June’2020 at the Ground Floor Seminar Hall.
Mr. Johnson Tellis, Innovation Officer and Growth Strategist, interacted with Faculty on the preparation of structure for online learning. He started off by displaying a video on delivery of a Lecture on Mathematics.
The main intention of displaying the video was to make the faculty aware that no matter how well you prepare your PowerPoint or other presentations, students are going to listen only for an attention span of 7 minutes.
Mr. Johnson specified the following guidelines to be followed for the delivery of subjects:
• A crisp overview of the subject topics needs to be given followed by the introduction of the Module topic.
• The introduction and significance of the subject should be well articulated and put forth to students.
• A mere transfer of knowledge can be done by any Faculty and there is no need of a vast experience to do it.
• To develop interest in students to watch your video, it should contain the application aspects of the Subject Topic.
• A little bit of history on the Subject Topic could be given.
• Industrial Experts interaction for students to have an insight on industrial skills.
• Faculty could concentrate on knowledge transfer and give some case studies to ensure learning takes place in students.
• At the end of every topic/ module an assessment needs to be made using Higher Order Blooms Taxonomy Levels.
• For Skill enhancement some Project based learning sessions needs to be incorporated.
Dr. Rajesha S., Principal, concluded the Session by stating that it is of utmost importance to prepare videos in this current situation of the pandemic. Short videos of smaller duration will make the students more proactive in learning, he said. He requested the faculty to give in their inputs for the preparation of videos.
Dr. Nalini Elizabeth Rebello, Dean – Academics, was also present.

Faculty, Dept of ISE publishes Research Paper in the Scopus Indexed Q4 Journal, International Journal of Control and Automation
A Research Paper by Dr. Chatrapathy K., Faculty, Dept. of Information Science & Engineering titled “A Novel Approach to Generate Random Numbers using Fuzzy State Automaton” is published in the Scopus indexed Q4 journal, International Journal of Control and Automation.
The Paper deals with generation of random bit sequence using a novel fuzzy state automaton based on cellular automaton combined with fuzzy operators. The expected qualities of good random sequence namely uniformity, randomness, independence; confusion and diffusion have been tested using NIST 801-22.1a test battery.
Quality of the random bit sequence generated has been compared with that of true random bits HOT BITS and a standard Java random number generator. It is found that the random sequence developed in this work is much simple and powerful and therefore it has very good scope in future cryptographic applications.
