"FEEL TEACHER COMMUNICATION" faculty development programme in the Campus

The three day faculty development programme “FEEL TEACHER COMMUNICATION” was inaugurated by the Principal, Dr. U. M. Bhushi. He highlighted that teaching is an enjoyable profession and encouraged faculty members to take part in the session well and enjoy the learning process.

The FEEL Teacher Communication is the first unit of a nine day ’FEEL Teacher’ programme and the stress is on interpersonal communication. The main objectives of this training programme are to help participants understand what is human resource and its development, the need for attitudinal changes in developing resourcefulness of students, to identify skills that are needed to become an effective teacher and to influence teachers to make necessary changes in the strategies, methods and techniques of classroom functioning.

The main resource person of the training programme, Prof. Sunney Tharappan, Director, CLHRD stated that quality of a programme depends on the person who goes through the training. Teachers fall under the category of helpers. He emphasized the need for developing competencies with students by being helpers. He also appreciated the Sahyadri environment. Prof. Sunney Tharappan, is a thinker, writer, master facilitator and trainer, but most of all, a teacher, researching on the development of human resource. He has trained over 16000 teachers across India and Sri Lanka.

The programme helped the faculty members to develop the communication perspective that will help them inspire their students to become Role Models, develop an institutional perspective and hone their skills on a continuous basis.

Prof. Subrahmanya and Prof. Anila Kamath were the other resource persons.Thirty six faculty members participated in this programme. The programme was co-ordinated by Dr. Molly Chaudhuri, HoD, Department of Training.
