Sahyadri joined hands with the District Administration and Ramakrishna Mission to create awareness on COVID-19 among the people of Mangaluru

Sahyadri has always shared the responsibility towards the betterment of the society as a priority and has responded to its call in times of crisis. This CoViD-19 pandemic has brought the city into a standstill and the District Police and Civil Administration are doing their best to help the public. In this time of need, the college staffs and a student joined their hands along with Ramakrishna Mission, Mangaladevi and assisted the District Administration in creating awareness about Social Distancing, enforcing lockdown and many such programmes. Ms. Shreelatha U A, Academic Administrative Officer (AAO); Mr. Ankith S Kumar, Student Counsellor and Mr. Chinthan, a student from First year Engineering volunteered along with Ramakrishna Mission to help the Police and MCC in this crisis situation.
They attended the meeting called by Dr. Harsha, IPS, Commissioner of Police at Ramakrishna Mission, Mangaladevi and extended their support. Shanady Ajith Kumar Hegde, Commissioner for Mangalore City Corporation was also present. The volunteers were made into 10 teams and assigned to 10 police station jurisdiction where they assisted the police to enforce the Lockdown.
The following activities were initiated by Ramakrishna Mission and the District Police for which our staff and student assisted.

1. Creation of purchase committee in apartments to reduce the flow of people in the market
2. Playcard campaign to prevent people from violating the lockdown
3. Awareness about Social distancing and marking the shops to enable customers to maintain minimum one-meter distance
4. Public announcement to enforce social distancing in the central market.
5. Contact -10, Calling Campaign to call ten people over phone every day and urge them to stay home and stay safe.

Sahyadri staff and students are always committed to their social responsibilities and respond to the nations call in times of need.
