Webinar on “Home Automation using KNX”

Schneider Electric organized a webinar on “Home Automation using KNX” on 29th April’2020 during 02:30PM to 4:00PM. Mr. Amarnath Durgale, Deputy Technical Manager, was the resource person from Schneider Electric Private Limited. Faculty members of Dept. of Electronics & Communication Engineering - Dr. Ashwath Rao, Prof. Pavanalaxmi, Prof. Pateel GP and Prof. Chandra Singh attended the session along with the students.
KNX is a standard for wired home automation and building automation. The standard is governed by the KNX Association. Building a KNX system is expensive, especially in already-built houses: new cables and ducts need to be installed in the walls to every wall switch, sensor, light point or outlet. The session deliberations included the entire home automation environment and how sensors, actuators communicate with each other. A KNX system is relatively inflexible. You need new wiring for each new or relocated device. You can imagine, adding a new light bulb or roller blind becomes quite the task. Creating scenes or scenarios with KNX was detailed.
Key Takeaways of the webinar:
• Access to your home from anywhere in the world
• Combine KNX and other, wireless devices in one interface
• Automate your entire home, across systems, with Homey Flow
• Control your devices, including KNX, via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant
• Enjoy a real smart home
