Faculty Development Programme on Student Enterprise

The Dept. of Business administration of Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management, Mangalore organized a One Day Faculty Development Programme on Student Enterprise, an entrepreneurial pedagogy for excellence in higher education. Dr Venugopal , Director of School of Management, Manipal was invited as the Chief guest for inaugurating the event. In his address, he stressed the need for inclusive growth in India. He said that entrepreneurship today has more challenges to face yet it does have a social orientation. Student enterprise is not just being self employed but being employed for doing something which one enjoys to do. Therefore, the idea of Student Enterprise has a long way to go. Academics. It's a medicine that needs to be administered to our students.Dr Prasad engaged various sessions on the need and ways to create student enterprise, the support available to enable student enterprise. Director of the Department, Dr AP Achar also engaged a session on Entrepreneurial Competency.

Embedding entrepreneurship in Academics is an art. Principal of the college, Dr Umesh M Bhushi gave his presidential remarks and wished the programme to be a grand success. Prof. Divya Prabhu was the Master of Ceremony for the inaugural function. Welcome address was rendered by Dr AP Achar, Director of MBA at Sahyadri and Prof. Gayathri Shetty proposed a Vote of thanks.The day was concluded with experience sharing by Mr Mahesh Prabhu, Director of Business World. About 40 faculty members from various under graduate colleges in and around Mangalore took part in this programme. The programme was co-ordinated by Prof Divya Prabhu, Prof Abhaya Kumar, Prof Mithun led by Prof Gayathri Shetty, Faculty members of Sahyadri School of Management.
