India First Leadership Talk Series with Co-Founder and Director, Elephant Design was organized by MHRD – Institution Innovation Cell

A Webinar on India’s First Leadership Talk Series was organized by MHRD – Institution Innovation Cell on 6th June’2020, with Ms. Ashwini Deshpande, Co-Founder & Director, Elephant Design. Dr. Abhay Jere, Chief Innovation Officer, MHRD Innovation Cell was the moderator.
A 1989 graduate of National Institute of Design, Ms. Ashwini Deshpande leads Elephant, India's largest independent integrated design consultancy, along with 2 co-founders. Elephant was ranked as No 1 Design Agency by The Economic Times Brand Equity reckoner in consistently including 2019.
Ms. Deshpande’s recent speaking engagements include UN Global Compact Network leadership programme, a Keynote at Design Congress in Puebla, Mexico & International Design Congress at Gwangju, Korea. Dr. Jere has an industrial experience of 12+ years, and a research experience of 7 years including 5 doctoral and 2 post-doctoral. His goal is to pursue career in Industry R&D.
Ms Ashwini Deshpande and Dr Abhay Jere had a brainstorming discussion on the need of knowing Design. She highlighted why knowing design is important as we use so many products in our day today life. This talk also highlighted the importance of being creative and facing challenges which will bring in more creative designs. It includes being creative and analytical.
Success in Design depends on one being optimistic and not relying on what people's mindset is, she said. So there is a lot of scope, provided one has a determination to take up the challenge and do something innovative.
Another aspect of the discussion was about failures that lead to success. There are failures in every path, she said, but we learn from our failures which prompt us to be successful.
Talking about the COVID-19 and its impact on the world, she stated that Post Covid world would depend on probability and trying different methods to reach normalcy. She urged developing of skills and being consistent in one’s approach. This will help one reach the fullest potential.
Overall it was a productive and efficient session encouraging students to keep doing the best.
