Dept. of CSE organized a Five Days Online FDP on “Research Challenges and Trends in Information Technology”

A Five Days Online Faculty Development Program (FDP) on “Research Challenges and Trends in Information Technology” is organized by the Dept. of Computer Science & Engineering during 4th to 8th Aug’2020. The FDP is organized in association with Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE) Chapter, Institutions Innovation Council & Computer Society of India (CSI).
Inaugural:
Dr. Manjappa S., Director, R&D in his inaugural speech, lauded the dept. on organizing the FDP and enlightening the students, faculties and research scholars. Dr. Nalini E. Rebello, Dean-Academics expressed her regards on conduction of emerging trends in Information Technology which is very useful for all the domain expertise.
Day-One:
The Resource Person for the day’s session was Dr. Sowmya Kamath S., Assistant Professor (Grade -I) at the Dept. of Information Technology, National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK), Surathkal.
The Agenda was focused more on Research Emerging Trends in Information Retrieval which was beneficial in the recent era and also covered how to search Engines with Applied Metrics to measure the relevancies.

? Vertical search engines and Cross Lingual information Retrieval (CLIR) which are catching lot of research interests
? Recommender Systems offers lot of recommendations to the Researchers

Students, Faculties, Research Scholars, and Industry Persons from countries like Nigeria, states like Uttarakhand , Madhya Pradesh, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra and Different districts of Karnataka participated in the session.
About the Resource Person:
Dr. Sowmya Kamath S. earned her B.Tech and M.Tech degrees from Manipal University, and Ph.D degree from NITK-Surathkal. She has around 11 years’ experience in Academics and 6 years of industry experience. Her research interests lie in the areas of Healthcare Analytics, Information Retrieval, Machine Learning, and Natural Language Processing, and she has published extensively in reputed journals and conferences in these areas.
