Team ‘Lowen Women’ achieves Second Place with Funding worth Rs 2 Lakhs at the Event ‘Empowering Youth Hackathon 2020’

Team ‘Lowen Women’ with its members Ayeesha Rasha, Dharithri Rai, Krithika Shetty and Preksha Alva of Second Year Engineering participated in Empowering Youth Hackathon 2020 organized by Carve Startup Labs (CSL) in partnership with IKP EDEN and won Second Place with Rupees Two Lakhs worth of prototyping support for their project under mentorship of Center for Social Innovation.
The team had come up with an Innovative Idea for Dysmenorrhea (Painful Periods). With primary focus on the Health Sector, the team delved into a concerning issue faced by close to 10 out of 100 women.
Women since ages have been suffering from Periods Pain which leaves a profound negative impact on their lives. In order to provide relief for all such women promoting proud womanhood, the vibrant students from Team ‘Lowen Women’ of Sahyadri put forth their efforts in this direction.
After going through the design thinking process and meeting with experts through the Social Innovation Program, the team came up with the idea of a Dysmenorrhea Massager Belt to ease the Pain through a heating mechanism.
With the help of the Massager the team hopes to lessen the burden of the pain and help reduce the increasing impact of Periods on the daily lives of women across the country.
