Day Six of Students Induction Programme for the First Year Engineering Students

The first session was facilitated by Prof. Deepthi N.T., Dept. of Mathematics. She spoke on the topic "Theatre and Education". She discussed about the importance of drama in a student’s life. Drama is recognized as one of the most effective ways to develop soft skills and emotional intelligence in students. Drama promotes communication skills, team work, dialogue and socialization, she said.
Next, Dr. Pushpalatha, Assoc. Professor & Head-Dept. of Computer Science & Engineering gave a clear idea about the course and scope of its field. She elaborated on the facilities i.e. Research Work/Laboratory/Funded projects in the department.
Ms. Nithisha Rodrigus, Director-Physical Education discussed about the opportunities available in college for sports. She said, sports play a significant role in an individual’s life. It helps build character, enhances analytical thinking, goal setting and risk taking, she added.
This was followed by a session by Mr. Naveen Pilar, Head- Dept. of Art & Culture. He spoke about the opportunities available in the field of extra-curricular activities. He encouraged students to take part in more cultural activities. The last session for the day was addressed by Dr. Nalini Rebello, Dean-Academics and Dr. Prashantha Rao, Head, Dept. of Basic Science. They explained the rules and regulations of the college which students should follow so as to remain focused in their studies.
All sessions received a very positive response from the virtual audience.
