Ms. Shipra Rai – Inclusion & Diversity Lead at Mphasis Pvt Ltd, Mangaluru was the Chief Guest of the inaugural ceremony of “Induction Programme” for the MBA Batch 2020 organized during 4th to 9th Jan, 2021.
Ms. Shipra Rai in her inaugural address emphasized that each one had potential to make it big and with dedication, persistence and drive, one can keep small steps to realize large goals. She was fascinated by the various sessions lined up during the induction programme especially Zumba as she believes in focusing on Mental health which lightens the situation and re-wires the brains. She appreciated the bandwidth of opportunities made available to students at Sahyadri and stimulated them to utilize such chances to stay on the top of the game.

Dr. Rajesha S, Principal, in his Presidential Remarks shared the brief history of Sahyadri and the milestones it has achieved. He also threw light on the infrastructure available for the students for Skill Development and carry out entrepreneurial activities.
Dr. Vishal Samartha, Director-MBA introduced the MBA Department to the new batch and also spoke of its achievements.
First session of the day was by Mr. Johnson Tellis, CEO of TCE at Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management. Johnson encouraged the students to visit all start-ups and in-house companies in colleges and the technologies they are exposed to. He re-iterated that as MBAs they should be majorly involved in organizing events for both MBA and Engineering and also take keen interest in participating in Management and Technical events organized in the institution and outside. He emphasized on the importance of staying updated in order to be a part of the future. He concluded his session by speaking on the 3 Circles – Friend, Mentor and Bouncer and also urged the students to be surrounded by like-minded and like-interested people.
In the afternoon, Dr. Vishal Samartha introduced her faculty team to the students, highlighting their key strengths and achievements. Later, an Academic Orientation was facilitated by Prof. Sushma V, Academic Coordinator of the MBA Department who introduced the VTU MBA Syllabus for YR2020, Credit Based Choice System, Continuous Internal Evaluation and Semester End Exam pattern.
Students were also given heads up on the Placement opportunities and the activities driven towards placements by Prof. Ramesh KG, Dean – Strategic Planning.
As a final touch for the Day One, students visited the in-house companies and start-ups in the campus and interacted with the company heads.
