First Year Engineering students attend a One-Day Symposium at Krishi Vigyana Kendra

A One-Day Symposium on “Application of solar-powered implements for Agriculture field” was organized by Bharatiya Vikas Trust, Manipal and Krishi Vigyana Kendra, Mangaluru on 25th Feb’2021 which took place at Krishi Vigyana Kendra Mangaluru. The agenda of the symposium was to understand and come up with solutions to the loss of crop production from rodents and animals by implementing solar energy-based technology. The symposium included framers, scientists from KVK, Experts from Selco Foundation, and students from ITI and Engineering Colleges. Mr. Gautham Nayak, Program Head, APEX Center for Social Innovation was invited as the inaugurator of the symposium. He addressed the gathering on various initiatives taken up by Sahyadri towards solving societal problems.
Other guests included Mr. Naveen Kumar, Principal, BA ITI, Thumbe, and Dr. T.J. Ramesh, Senior Scientist & Head of KVK Mangaluru. Selco Foundation demonstrated various livelihood solutions like solar-powered blower, pottery machine, and rice huller. As a part of the Social Innovation Program, first-year students Sohan Rai, Sriram V, Ashwija A Rao, Rachana Shenoy, Raksha, Saavan, and Dhyan Rai took part in the discussion to understand the problem and find a desirable, feasible, and viable technological solution.
