Sahyadri Team attends session on ‘Soil Health Monitoring and Disease Detection and Prevention in Agriculture’ organized by Krishi Vigyaan Kendra

Sushma, Trainer- APEX Centre for Social Innovation; Mr. Prajwal Shetty, Mr. Thilak V S, Mr. Shalvian D'souza, the students of Mechanical Engineering; Ms. Abhinaya, Final year student of Information Science & Engineering and Mr. Sanchith, Dreamworks Makerspace, participated in a session on ‘Soil Health Monitoring and Disease Detection and Prevention in Agriculture’, organized by Krishi Vigyaan Kendra on 5th March’2021.
The team interacted with agricultural resource persons as well as innovators working to improve agriculture yield. Ms. Sushma addressed the gathering regarding the importance of engineering students working on community-centered projects especially in the sector of Agriculture and welcomed discussions on problems being faced by farmers on a regular basis. After the session, the team got an opportunity to visit the Biofloc technology setup as well as the Gendali Coconut farm, managed by Mr. Chandrasekhar Gatty, National Award Winner for Gendali Coconut farm and Nursery. The team discussed the use of technology that can be implemented in these sectors and also discussed extensively on the use of Biofloc as a means to improve yield and bring down the cost of production in shrimp and fish farming.
