Dr. Prabhu addresses the staff of KMC Manipal on ‘Data Security for Healthcare’

Dr. Ananth Prabhu G, Professor in the Dept. of Computer Science & Engineering and Principal Investigator of the Digital Forensics and Cyber Security CoE at Sahyadri was invited by the KMC Center for Clinical and Innovative Forensics, Manipal to deliver a Two-Hour lecture on ‘Data Safety for Healthcare Professionals’.
Dr. Prabhu spoke about the various cyber-attacks in the healthcare sector across the globe and how necessary precautions have to be taken in order to harden the networks and systems from cyber-attacks. Currently, the Healthcare sector is the most sought after sector by the cyber criminals.
Some of the topics discussed by Dr. Prabhu were - Information Security Management System, Data Protection Bill of India, ISO 27001, different types of data- Public, Internal only, Confidential, Restricted and the mechanisms to safeguard and protect data, Other data classification standards- HIPAA, PCI DSS, GDPR, NIST 800-53, best practices for password management and contingency policies.
The program was coordinated by Prof. Vinod Nayak. Associate Dean. Dr. Krishnanand Prabhu presented Dr. Prabhu with a memento. Dr. Shrikant Prabhu, students of the Post Graduate Program in Forensics and other staff members were present.
