Faculty members of ‘Examination Reforms AICTE Quality Initiative Committee’ attend the Third Day of Online Course conducted by AICTE

Session 1:
Prof. Gopalkrishna Joshi, Dean, Curriculum Innovation & Program Assessment, KLE Technological University Hubli, conducted a detailed session on use of Bloom's Taxonomy for assessment design of OBE and about the different levels of Bloom’s taxonomy. He explained about the importance of using Bloom's taxonomy in improving the quality of written assessment and the use of action verbs with examples. He agreed that higher level of Bloom’s taxonomy questions with higher order cognitive skills like ‘Evaluate’ and ‘Create’ are difficult to assess in time-limited examinations and hence has to be assessed in variety of student works like projects, open ended problems-solving exercises etc. He also mentioned that OBE performance requires a team work and common understanding among faculty members. AICTE Exam Reform policy documents are also detailed by him.
Session 2:
In this session, Prof. Gopalkrishna Joshi spoke about the project formulation stages and writing assessment rubrics for different stages of evaluation. He said that students have high potential and the only way we can make them realize is by challenging them with realistic engineering needs. Professor also shared the design course practiced at their institute for first year students and the impact of that course on OBE. He stressed about the requirement of active, collaborative and experiential learning. The session ended by answering the queries of the participants.
