MBAs attend a Three-Day Outbound Experiential Training programme at Ankola

A total of 34 students from MBA Marketing and Human Resource specialization along with Prof. Girish M had been to Nature Bound Sahyadri Organisation, Ankola for a three-day Outbound Experiential training programme. The students were tested in different ways both physically and mentally. The training kick-started with an ice breaker named “Walking on a Rope”. The students were then divided into teams and were asked to set a SMART goal and write what the individual would want to change before leaving the camp. The next activity was Key punch. In this activity, students had to bring out their innovations and formulate new strategies every time they punch the keys and most importantly follow the company rules.

Day Two began with a 3 kilometres run and warm up exercises. Next, was a game named “Mind Field” which was based on strategy and time management. The main objective of the activity was to reach the success line from the start-up stage. The next activity was scavenging in the jungle, treading through the forest to collect nearly 22 items in 20 minutes and the students were gauged on how different there were from the rest of the group in collecting each item. Moving on, the students had to navigate in the forest using a compass and map and also collect nearly 15 clues within an hour. Navigation tested the student’s patience level and teamwork. The last activity of the day was the Obstacle run. This activity was again strategy, based on how to gain maximum points by completing 12 obstacles with 10 members in 10 minutes. After draining out their energy on the field they were made to repeat the activity for just 3 minutes with a new strategy.

7 pm each day was dedicated for review on the day-long activities and students had to present whatever they learned, analyse their strength and weaknesses and also solve puzzles. They also received feedback on their performance of the day.

During the Day Three, students had a meditation session. They also did a presentation of their team/company in front the trainers and justified why they stand out in the crowd.
