MBA students attend KCCI Interactive session with Commissioner, Mangalore City Corporation

Anirudh R, Vishnu Prasanna, Radhesh P S and Sharvari - students of first year MBA along with Prof. Ramesh K G, Dean-Strategic Planning and Prof. Suchitra, Dept. of Business Administration attended an Interactive Session with Shri. Akshy Sridhar, Commissioner, Mangalore City Corporation organized by Kanara Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KCCI).
The session began with the Commissioner explaining about the Governance of City Corporation and also the developmental activities taken up by them like Uninterrupted Power & Water Supply, Waste Management, Smart City Work, Elimination of Traffic Congestion, Online Payment of Taxes etc. Commissioner stated that they are coming up with an application to address grievances of citizens.
Later, the forum was open for questions by the audience. The citizens raised issues like:
1.No common helpline number which citizens can use to report their grievances
2.Increase in cess to collect the solid waste from the industries
3.Delay in Road construction in few prominent places
4.Footpaths encroached by street vendors
5.No daily pick up waste by Antony Waste Management
Anirudh, MBA student raised a question on Separate Track for Joggers and Cyclers in the city of Mangalore. The commissioner appreciated the concern raised and promised our students that on a pilot basis the corporation will start the initiation on the river banks of Netravathi and based on the feedback received they will extend the service to other parts of the city. Mr. Shashidhar Pai Maroor, President, KCCI and other office bearers were present for the session.

Dept. of CSE organized a Five-Day Industrial Tour to Pune

Dept. of Computer Science & Engineering has organized an industrial visit for third year Engineering students during 10th to 14th April 2022. The degree in Computer Science & Engineering doesn't mean only IT, so the visit was mainly focused on bringing awareness to the students on the requirements of software in the hardware industry. In this regard, students visited Wilo India Pvt Ltd. - vertical water pump manufacturing unit, Dali and Samir Engineering Pvt Ltd. - Fuel tanks, Hydraulic tanks, crossbar beams, Surge tanks manufacturing unit, and Patri Engineers - Manufacturers of CNC and Turn mill components for aerospace and automobile industries.
A total 95 students accompanied by 4 faculty members - Prof. Sharathchandra N R, Prof. Suhas A Bhyrate, Prof. Alakananda and Prof. Bhavana A S, Dept. of Computer Science & Engineering, visited the industries in Pune.
The department is grateful to Mr. Padmanabha Shetty, relative of Akshay Shetty from 5th semester for providing clearance for the students to visit the Wilo India Pvt Ltd and Dali and Samir Engineering Pvt Ltd and Prof. Sharathchandra N R, faculty for providing clearance in Patri Engineers.

IEEE Sahyadri Coordinator attends IEEE Conference organizers Education Workshop

The institute coordinator of IEEE, Dr. Shamanth Rai, attended the IEEE Conference organizers Education Workshop, on 11th April, 2022, held in the online mode. The workshop was jointly organized by IEEE Bangalore Section (BS), IEEE Mysore Subsection (MYSS), IEEE Mangalore Subsection (MSS) and IEEE North Karnataka Subsection (NKSS).
The workshop mainly dealt with IEEE Conference Application Process - Applying, Conference Planning and Building Team, IEEE Xplore, Open Access, and IEEE Author centre, Publication Chair responsibilities, and Technical Program Management.

Dean-SP invited as Chief Guest - Annual NSS Camp of SDM MMK Mahila Vidyalaya, Mysore

Prof. Ramesh K G, Dean-Strategic Planning is invited as the Chief Guest for the Valedictory Function of Annual NSS Special Camp of SDM MMK Mahila Maha Vidyalaya held at Nelemane, Srirangapatna Taluk, Mysore.
In his valedictory address he briefed the students how students can use various activities of NSS as a platform to develop their personality along with community service as their core objective. He explained how NSS has helped him to improve his communication skills, build network, and work towards various community related activities.
Mr. B Prabhudev, Member, Karnataka Public Service Commission; Prof. Sainath Malligemadu, Principal, SDM MMK Mahila Maha Vidyalaya; Dr. M B Suresh, NSS Co-ordinator, Mysore University; Prof. B N Maruthi Prasanna, NSS Officer and other dignitaries were present during the valedictory function.
Prof. Ramesh K G, won the Indira Priyadarshini National Level Best NSS Volunteer Award as student of SDM Law College, Mangalore during 1996-97 under the guidance of then NSS officer of SDM Law College and current Principal of SDM MMK Maha Vidyalaya, Mysore Prof. Sainath Malligemadu.

Sahyadri Signs MOU with CII-Young Indians-Yuva

Sahyadri signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Mr. Ashith B Hegde, Chapter Chair; Ms. Sameeksha Shetty, Chapter co-chair; Mr. Madhukar Kuduva, Chair and Mr. Guruprasad, Executive CII-Young Indians - Yuva on 12th April 2022.
Mr. Manjunath Bhandary, Chairman; Dr. Rajesha S, Principal and Ms. Rashmi Bhandary, TPO graced the occasion. Yi shall motivate and provide opportunities to the students to engage in activities and initiatives that they conceptualize, create reports regularly on their activities to the Yi Executive Member and participate in the Yi National & Chapter events in other cities like the summit.
