Recruited by Walmart

Michel Michel Rego from the Dept. of Information Science & Engineering has been recruited by Walmart for the position of Software Developer. She is also placed in Infosys.
Walmart Inc. is an American multinational retail corporation that operates a chain of hypermarkets, discount department stores, and grocery stores from the United States, headquartered in Bentonville, Arkansas.

World IP Day: Workshop organized by Dept. of Mechanical Engg. and R&D Cell along with VTPC and KSCST

World IP Day workshop on 'Patent filing, Trademark & Industrial Design, Geographical Indications' was organized by Dept. of Mechanical Engineering and Research Development Cell, Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management, Mangaluru in association with Visvesvaraya Trade Promotion Centre (VTPC) and Karnataka State Council for Science & Technology (KSCST) on 26th April 2022.
During the inaugural ceremony, Dr. Rajesha S, Principal welcomed the dignitaries and participants. He also briefed about the World IP day and gave valuable inputs to youth. Smt. Prabhavathi Rao, Facilitator, Intellectual Property Initiatives and Geographical Indication Cell, VTPC, Govt. of Karnataka, in her presidential remarks enlightened participants about different business strategies, ideas for the youth to think on innovation, design and patent filing and their importance. This was followed by a session on IPR awareness by Dr. S Manjappa, Director-R&D and Consultancy. His session was about the importance of Patenting and copy right protection and IPR which helps young innovators to think on next level business strategy.
First session was facilitated by Dr. Farah Deeba, External Panel Member, Visvesvaraya Trade Promotion Centre (Government of Karnataka Centre for Export Promotion) who remarked on 'Overview of IPR Spectrum with a deep dive on Trademarks and Industrial Designs as powerful IP tools'.
Second session was handled by Smt. Prabhavathi Rao, Facilitator, Intellectual Property Initiatives and Geographical Indications Cell, Visvesvaraya Trade Promotion Centre, (Government of Karnataka Centre for Export Promotion) on the topic - 'Familiarize yourselves with Geographical Indications: A significant IP tool impacting the grassroots'.
Third session was on 'Introduction to patents and its protection in Academics' which was handled by Mr. B Vivek Anand Sagar, Consultant and IP Attorney, Karnataka State Council for Science & Technology (KSCST).
Participants from various institutions and industries had participated in the event. The event was coordinated by Dr. Harsha Kumar M K and Prof. Ajith B S, from the Dept. of Mechanical Engineering.

Session on 'Financial Statement Analysis' for MBAs

Financial_Statement Dept. of Business Administration organized a session on 'Financial Statement Analysis' for the first year MBA students of batch 2021-23 on 23rd April 2022, Saturday from 9 am to 12 noon. The session was facilitated by CA Shravan Kumar B, qualified as Chartered Accountant in the year 2019 and is practicing since then.
To begin with, he introduced important sections relevant to understand the financial statement. He explained how to analyze the financial statements by using different ratios. He also briefed about the important aspects to keep in mind while an individual decides to invest in a particular listed company and also stressed on the impact of borrowings on the dividend distributed. Students were extremely interactive during the session.

ECE Faculty, Appointed as Program Committee Member for International Conference to be held in NIT Mizoram

Chandra_Singh Prof. Chandra Singh, Dept. of Electronics & Communication Engineering has been appointed as the Program Committee Member for the 10th International Conference on Frontiers of Intelligent Computing: Theory and Applications (FICTA 2022), the Decennial Edition of FICTA Conference, organized by Department of Computer Science & Engineering, National Institute of Technology Mizoram, India during June 24-25, 2022.
The 2022 International Conference on Frontiers of Intelligent Computing: Theory and Applications (FICTA) aims to bring together researchers, scientists, engineers, students and practitioners to exchange and share their theories, methodologies, new ideas, experiences, application in all areas of intelligent computing theories, methodologies and its applications. The theme of the FICTA conference series focuses on the domain of intelligent computing theories and the application to Computer and Management sciences. All accepted and registered papers under this conference will be published in Springer-Smart Innovation, Systems and Technologies (SIST) Series (approval awaited). Now indexed by SCOPUS, EI Compendex, INSPEC, WTI Frankfurt eG, zbMATH, Japanese Science and Technology Agency (JST), SCImago, DBLP. All books published in the series are submitted for consideration in the Web of Science.
