MBA Students attend an Interactive Session with the Speaker of Karnataka Legislative Assembly

A total of 30 MBA students along with Prof. Ramesh K G, Dean Strategic Planning attended an Interactive Session with Speaker of Karnataka Legislative Assembly Sri Vishweshwar Hegde Kageri on 'Election Reforms' organized by Mangalore District Administration in association with Mangalore City Corporation, Kanara Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Mangalore University & SDM Law College at Town Hall Mangaluru.
Sri Vishweshwar Hegde Kageri gave an introductory speech on the changes taken place in the electoral process from the time of independence in one of the largest democracies of the world. He requested the voters run a campaign stating "My Votes are Not for Sale". Later students from various colleges were invited for the discussion. The various topics discussed were as follows:
* Making voting compulsory for all the eligible voters
* One nation one voting
* Fixing up Education Qualification for the candidates
* Digitalisation of the voting process for NRIs, Migrant Workers, Students studying across the globe
* Linking Voter Card to AADHAR Card
* Restricting the candidates from contesting for the election as part Anti Defection Law
Dr. Rajendra K V, Deputy Commissioner, Dakshina Kannada District; Dr. Kumar, CEO, Dakshina Kannada, Zilla Panchayat; Mr. Vedavyas Kamath, MLA, Mangaluru South Assembly Constituency; Mr. Premananda Shetty, Mayor, Mangaluru City Corporation were present during the discussion.

Head-Dept. of Civil Engineering delivered a talk at SMVITM, Bantakal, Udupi

Prof. B Hemanth Prabhu, Head-Dept. of Civil Engineering delivered a talk on 'Deflection of Beams By Strain Energy Method' organized by the Dept. of Civil Engineering, Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology and Management, Bantakal, Udupi on 7th April 2022 in connection with the Three-Day Faculty Development Programme on "Recent Advancement in Outcome based Education and Civil Engineering Industry".
The presentation explained how to evaluate strain energy under Axial Force, Torsion, Shear and Bending of a member. Numerical examples were solved using the Strain Energy principles. He also narrated the importance of skills needed in the field of Civil Engineering in practicing OBE. He highlighted the pre requisites for the future technology such as 3D Printing, application software's such as Auto CAD, Revit Architecture, Staad Pro, BIM technologies etc. He also narrated the importance of marking of Building Plan. The session was informative and he successfully clarified the questions by the audience. The faculty and Management applauded him for his proficiency in delivering the topic and for meeting the aim of the programme.
