Gold Medal at VTU Inter-Collegiate Weightlifting Competition

Vaishnavi D K, a student of fifth Semester Civil Engineering participated in VTU Inter-Collegiate Weightlifting Competition and secured Gold Medal in upto 64kg Category. Sahyadri also won First Runner-Up Trophy in VTU Women’s Weight Lifting Competition held at NMAMIT, Nitte on 20th Dec, 2021.

Social Innovation Program (SIP) for First Year Engineering Students: Prototyping Session

The Social Innovation Program (SIP) conducted the first prototyping session for the 1st year engineering students of batch 2021-22, where the students were introduced to the prototyping course. The concept of design and building a prototype was brought in with a catapult building task. The students constructed a catapult prototype successfully to launch the projectile over five meters.

Dr. Ananth Prabhu G, Professor and Principal Investigator, Digital Forensics and Cyber Security CoE at Sahyadri, was invited by Information Security Education and Awareness, an initiative of the Govt. of India under the aegis of Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology, to deliver a lecture on Open Source Intelligence.
Open source intelligence (OSINT) is the practice of collecting information from published or otherwise publicly available sources. OSINT operations, whether practiced by IT security pros, malicious hackers, or state-sanctioned intelligence operatives, use advanced techniques to search through the vast haystack of visible data to find the needles they're looking for to achieve their goals—and learn information that many don't realize is public. Open source in this context doesn't refer to the open-source software movement, although many OSINT tools are open source; instead, it describes the public nature of the data being analyzed.
OSINT is in many ways the mirror image of operational security (OPSEC), which is the security process by which organizations protect public data about themselves that could, if properly analyzed, reveal damaging truths. IT security departments are increasingly tasked with performing OSINT operations on their own organizations to shore up operational security.
