Induction Programme for the first Sahyadri MBA Autonomous Batch 2021-23

Day Four (17th Feb, 2022):

First session was facilitated by Magician Mr. Shankar Junior, “Gili Gili Magic” fame who is a world renowned magician with over 5,000 shows to his credit in 15 countries. While speaking to the students, he said - Magic is the art of performing science. He shared anecdotes on everyday illusions, amodal completion and also spoke on real life instances where students could relate to magic. In his concluding remarks, he re-iterated that one should respect other person’s perceptions and point of view.
Second session of the day was facilitated by Ms. Komal S Prabhu, COO, Maharaja Multicuisine Family Restaurant on the topic – “A Glance into Entrepreneurial Journey”. She said - formal education backed up with hard work, perseverance and dream, can bring success in one’s life. She emphasized on the power of dream and shared anecdotes on how the dream to achieve something big was instilled in her since childhood. She also spoke on her Transition from a happy-go-lucky girl to a dutiful house wife and now to an entrepreneur.

Ibrahim Shaad Afnan from the Dept. of Electronics & Communication Engineering and Abhishek Kumar M from the Dept. of Information Science & Engineering are recruited by Everi India for the position of Trainee through the recently held virtual campus recruitment Drive. CTC offered is INR 6 LPA.

Faculty from Engineering Physics publishes Research Article in Scopus Indexed Proceedings (Elsevier)

A research article titled - “Enhanced nonlinear optical absorption in defect enriched graphene oxide and reduced graphene oxide using continuous-wave laser z-scan technique” co-authored by Dr. F Jyothi Serrao, Associate Professor, Dept. of Engineering Physics has been published in Materials Today: Proceedings (Scopus indexed, Elsevier). In this research paper, the nonlinear optical properties (NLO) of defect enriched graphene oxide (GO) and reduced graphene oxide (rGO) were investigated using CW laser at 532 nm. It was found that the defects largely influence the NLA of GO and rGO and NLO behaviour is found to increase with the increase in defects/disorders. The results showed that the defect enriched GO and rGO may be strong contenders for optical limiting applications.
