Thanuja Thanuja from the Dept. of Computer Science & Engineering is recruited by Discover Dollar for the position of Associate SW Developer.
Discover Dollar started with a vision to help organizations to harness its full potential by data where more than 75% of enterprise data is unstructured. Discover Dollar pioneered a ‘real-time’ data-driven analytics platform which can help enterprises realize millions of dollars of value by analysing all the data including unstructured data like emails, invoices, contracts, etc and help enterprises to recover all of its overpayments and revenue leakages. They have helped Fortune 500 companies like Target, Budweiser, (ABInbev), Levis, Metro, Canadian Tire, etc to recover more than $300M of leakages which otherwise would be lost forever.

Inauguration of “The Institution of Engineers (India) [IEI]” - Students Chapter

The virtual inaugural function of The Institution of Engineers (India) [IEI] - Students Chapter of Sahyadri was held on 2nd Feb 2022, Wednesday at 3.30pm, for the following Engineering Programmes:
1. Computer Science & Engineering
2. Information Science & Engineering
3. Electronics & Communication Engineering
4. Mechanical Engineering
Dr. B M Sunil, Chairman-IEI-Mangalore Centre and Dr. Manu B Honorary Secretory-Mangalore Centre were invited as the Chief Guests for the event.
In the inaugural address, Dr. B M Sunil gave a detailed overview of the IEI professional body. He familiarized the international links, overseas chapters, IEI multidisciplinary body with different Engineering branches, and the celebration of statutory days under IEI etc., to the gathering. He also gave insight on the key benefits of having Institutional membership and Student chapter with IEI and urged the students to participate actively in the Chapter events.
Dr. Manu, Honorary Secretary, expressed his pleasure in the opening of the student chapter at Sahyadri and assured support and guidance in the conduction of activities under IEI.
While addressing the gathering on the occasion, Principal, Dr. Rajesha S, expressed his delight on the introduction of Student Chapter for four Core Engineering programmes and thanked the guests for extending support in organizing activities under IEI.

ECE Faculty invited as Resource Person for One-Day Workshop on “Empower Yourself”

Prof. Gurusiddayya Hiremath, Dept. of Electronics & Communication Engineering is invited as a Resource Person to conduct a One-Day workshop on “Empower Yourself”, organized by Dept. of Mathematics & IQAC initiatives, B V V Sangha’s Shri S R Kanthi Arts, Commerce and Science College, Mudhol, Bagalkot.
Workshop focused on the following points:
1. Personality Development
2. Soft Skills
3. Goal Setting Activities
4. Career Guidance
5. Collaborative Learning
A total of 120 students and 5 faculty members were a part of the workshop. Kanthi College is one of the oldest college in north Karnataka region and accredited by NAAC.

Faculty of Basic Science Publishes a Research Article in an International Journal

Navin Dr. Navin N Bappalige, Associate Professor in the Dept. of Engineering Physics, co-authored the research article titled - ‘Energy Consumption Analysis and Evaluation of Communication Technologies in Wireless Sensor Networks’ published in the Scopus indexed international journal Design Engineering (Q4) - ISSN: 0011-9342. The paper highlights the wireless sensor networks (WSN) that can be used in agriculture to increase the crop yields and improve the quality of the agriculture output. The proposed system uses low-cost wireless technologies and it is based on technologies with economical resource requirements and consumes lower energy. The energy monitoring of wireless devices plays a crucial role in wireless communication.
