Training and Placements: Recruited by United Rubber Industries

united_ribbon Bradly Roger Henry and Sapna S from Mechanical Engineering have been recruited by United Rubber Industries for the position of Graduate Trainee Engineer.

URI has established as a strategic source for all sophisticated and hi-tech applications with rubber. Over the past 40 years they have carved a niche market for themselves as a world class manufacturer of rubber components.

Faculty and Students Selected for Indian Knowledge System (IKS) Internship Project 2022-23

Internship Dr. Prashantha Rao and Prof. Akshaya Kumari Shetty are selected as mentors from Sahyadri, out of 249 mentors from all over India for the Indian Knowledge System Internship Project 2022-23 organized in association with AICTE. Sonia Vinaykumar Kambli (Vedic Mathematics), Yamini R (Sahitya and Kala), Aniruddha Wagle (Sahitya and Kala), Nandesh (Vedic Mathematics) and Sourabha S (Sustainable Agriculture and Food Preservation Method) are the selected students from first year engineering. It's a two-month internship program scheduled to be held during July 15th to 15th September, 2022.
Internship
The IKS Internship program is designed to encourage and enthuse youth to take up deeper study of various topics related to IKS in Bharateeya Bhashas. Eighteen streams were introduced, where students can choose to do their internship. The focus is to create opportunities for students to contribute and be involved in active research during the summer breaks or anytime during the year. It is two months internship program. And each intern will be awarded a stipend of 10,000/- month for two months and 5,000/- for travel and other miscellaneous expenses.

Foundation Course: First Year Engineering 2022-2023

Foundation Course for the First Year Engineering Batch 2022-2023 commenced on 14th July'2022. The course was inaugurated by the Principal, Dr. Rajesha S and Dr. Prasahantha Rao, HoD-Dept. of Basic Science, presided over the inauguration program.

It's a 10-Day Course covering the fundamental concepts of Mathematics and Programming. In the inaugural address, Principal Dr. Rajesha S emphasized that technology is a combination of Science and Engineering. He added that there are ample opportunities at Sahyadri for skill development and he called upon the students to acquire the necessary skill-sets to be successful engineers. Dr. Prasahantha Rao, briefed on the application of the Foundation course and its long-term positive effects.

CSE Department organized a Two-Day Online Workshop for Final Year Students

Dept. of Computer Science & Engineering in association with Institute Innovation Council, Ministry of Human Resource Development Initiative, Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), ACM (Association for Computing Machinery), organized a Two-Day Online workshop on 'Typesetting and Document Processing Using Latex' and 'Technical Research Paper Writing' for Final year students on 9th July and 11th July 2022 respectively. Day One was facilitated by Prof. Alakananda K. The aim was to provide hands-on experience to the students on aspects related to documentation work on open source, scientific tool. This workshop targeted students who were not familiar with Latex. At the end of the workshop, each student edited their project draft report on Latex and gained hands-on experience on inserting image, sub images, equation, table and cross reference, gaining confidence on working on latex format of documents. They also used overleaf.com.
Dr. Shreyas Suresh Rao, Associate Professor was the convenor for the day two of the workshop. He gave heads up on writing conference papers and Journal papers, different sections of the paper, about Potential publishers and also differentiated between Conference papers and Journal papers. Dr. Pushpalatha K, Head-Dept. of Computer Science & Engineering; Prof. Suhas A Bhyrate and Prof. Duddella Sai Prashanth, Staff Coordinators were also present in the session.

Team Challengers conducted a Workshop on 'Basics of Linux' for first year engineering students

linux On Thursday, 14th July'2022, Team Challengers conducted a Hands-On Workshop on 'Basics of Linux' for the first-year members of Team Challengers. The workshop was headed by Mr. Jayesh R Gurav, a student of second year AI & Machine Learning Engineering at the Challengers Lab. The session enhanced the knowledge of the beginners by giving them a practical experience of Linux commands by understanding what Linux is, Why and Where to use it, and also how to use it.
