Final year Engg. students Secure First Place in DBIT TeXpo-2022

Challengers Members of Team Challengers from final year engineering have secured First place in DBIT TeXpo, a One-day National level Inter-Collegiate project exhibition organized by Don Bosco Institute of Technology on July 22nd'2022.
The team consisted of Shrinidhi IS and Pratham KB from final year Mechanical Engineering and Raynol Menezes and Rajmohan Kamath from final year Electronics & Communications Engineering.
The team has designed an Autonomous Pesticide Spraying and Disease Detection, a UAV Platform for Areca Nut and Pepper Plantations. The project is about an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) which sprays pesticide autonomously on Arecanut and pepper plantations, which saves a lot of time and labour. The UAV has cameras and sensors on board to Detect diseases using Image Processing.

As a community service responsibility under the AICTE 100-point activity, Dept. of Electronics & Communication Engineering and students of the 4th semester A section, participated in the noble cause of planting the saplings on 24th July 2022, 9:30 AM at Shree Vinayaka Temple, Ammunje School and Sadashiva Temple.
The students and faculty were warmly welcomed by the dignitaries of Veera Yoddha Yadav Friends Trust along with Members of Panchayat, which was then followed by morning refreshments. Around 100+ distinctive saplings were planted across various areas, which would blossom and spread the fluorescence over the years. The saplings were sponsored by Mr. Devdas Hegde, Trustee of Bhandary Foundation. The zealous and energetic students then headed towards the village getting their hands colored in mud. The students got an opportunity to get out of the frenetic academic zone and they made the best use of this opportunity adding significance to social service by actively participating in the event.

Principal and Dean-SP attend COMED KARES Outreach Program held at Ocean Pearl, Mangaluru

Outreach Dr. Rajesha S, Principal and Prof. Ramesh K G, Dean-Strategic Planning attended the COMED KARES Outreach Program held on 22nd July, 2022 at Ocean Pearl, Mangaluru. Dr. S Kumar, Executive Secretary, COMEDK, briefed about the Innovation Centre coming up at Mangaluru for facilitating innovation activities of the engineering students in and around the region. Mr. Muralidharan, CEO, COMED KARES and Mr. Johnson Tellis, Program Director, COMED KARES presented the program structure. Mr. Muralidharan also presented the QS I- Guage Quality Certification and its advantages to uplift the quality of individual institution.
The Principals and other senior representatives of various Engineering Colleges of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi Districts were present for the program.

Financial Modelling: Value Added Course by MBA Dept.

In order to prepare students to meet the industry demands and the needs of contemporary dynamic business environment, Value Added Course on 'Financial Modelling' was introduced by the Dept. of Business Administration (MBA) during 18th to 24th July'2022 as a 40-Hour Course.

The course was delivered by resource persons - Mr. Rahul Singh, who is a Portfolio Manager and Mr. Deepak Singh, a Senior Account Specialist (L2). Student had hands-one experience of MS-Excel and various market opportunities available for investing through practical examples and exposure. They were also exposed to various financial calculations through MS-Excel such as financial valuation, loan calculation, Practical Aspect of Derivative etc.
The resource persons quoted real life examples and situations which helped students to actively take part in the learning process of the course. At the end of the course, students underwent an assessment based on which the certificates were issued.
