Mechanical Engineering students Win 1st place in 'Sambhram-2022', a National-Level Techno-cultural fest

sambhram Aheesh Rao and Dion Dsouza, students of 4th Semester and Gurucharan Nayak of 2nd Semester, Mechanical Engineering, won 1st place in 'Thunderbolt' (engine dismantling) an event held at 'Sambhram-22', a National-level Techno-cultural fest of Shreedevi Institute of Technology, Kenjar. They received Certificates and Cash Prize for this. The event consisted of two rounds - Round 1: A quiz on automobiles and engines; Round 2: Dismantling and again reassembling the engine. The teams had to assemble the engine in the least amount of time.

Inauguration: Three-Day Hackathon on 'Ethical Hacking'

Three-Day Hackathon on 'Ethical Hacking' organized by Sahyadri and Supported by AICTE SPICE Scheme was inaugurated on 13th June 2022. The event was mentored by Cybsersapiens United LLP, Mangaluru.
During the inauguration, Dr. Shamanth Rai, Dean-Academics, gave a welcome note and spoke on the importance of Hackathon. Dr. Ananth Prabhu, PI-CoE Dgital Forensics Intelligence and Cyber Cecurity Professor, Dept. of Computer Science & Engineering, spoke on the topic - 'What is Cyber Security' through Case Studies. Mr. Shaheed Ahmed P, Senior Advisor Cyber Sapiens United LLP, Mangaluru, spoke about subdivision of cyber security. At the end, Dr. Rajesha S, Principal, speaking on the importance of Cyber Security, emphasized that students of all branches of engineering must be aware of IT and cybersecurity. Prof. Harisha and Prof. Srinivas PM, Dept. of Computer Science & Engineering were also present during the Inaugural Ceremony. Nearly 90 Students registered for the programme, 40 students confirmed their participation and a total 31 students participated in the event. This event is also supported by SOSC, CoE Digital Forensics Intelligence and Cyber Security, Sahyadri MIC IIC, Dept. of CSE and Dept. of ISE.

Webinar: Dept. of Mechanical Engineering organized a Guidance Program on 'Career Opportunities after Bachelor of Engineering'

sambhram On 13th June, 2022, Dept. of Mechanical Engineering in association with IEI, ISTE, FLAMES, ISME, IIC organized a Webinar on 'A guidance program on career opportunities after Bachelor of Engineering'. The resource person was Mr. S Manimohan Trinath, Sr. Faculty member at ACE academy. Objective of the webinar was to give students of 2nd and 3rd year Mechanical Engineering the insights on what next after Graduation.
During the webinar, Mr. S Manimohan Trinath, emphasized on the different opportunities for the Mechanical Engineering students in IT sectors especially in Artificial Intelligence; different range of salary packages for Mechanical Engineering Fresh graduates and importance of GATE exam to get into PSU's. A total of 150 students attended the session.

InUnity Young Entrepreneurs Meet Launch

InUnity Mangaluru, a three-month entrepreneurship program, announces its 2nd cohort of 55 budding entrepreneurs at the Young Entrepreneurs Meet at The Ocean Pearl, Mangaluru on 11th June 2022. This was attended virtually by renowned dignitaries which included Dr. Seetharamu (Director, National Design and Research Forum); Mr. Arjun Ranga (Chairman, Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and Managing Director, N Ranga Rao & Sons Pvt. Ltd.); Mr. Sanjeev Gupta, (CEO, Karnataka Digital Economy Mission (KDEM) and MD & CEO Lahari - Govt. of India initiative) and Ms. Kanchana K.V (Vice President, Global Alliance for Mass Entrepreneurship). The first cohort of the InUnity program saw significant achievements. This included the establishment of 3 enterprises, funding support for 1 prototype, and 4 ideas that incubated at host institutions. Seeing this, InUnity is set to continue the success with its second cohort and also scale this program across other regions of Karnataka like Hassan, Mandya and Mysuru. The second cohort received an overwhelming response from over 500 students across 20 technical and non-technical colleges in the Mangaluru region, from which 55 students with an entrepreneurial mindset were selected. This cohort will emphasize on problem statements from the sectors of clean tech and harnessing green energy.
