Senior Vice-President of Galaxe Solutions Visited Sahyadri

Phanendranath Chowdary Kaza, Senior Vice-President International Operation, Galaxe Solutions visited Sahyadri on 16th June 2022 to meet and interact with the students who have been placed at Galaxe Solutions. He had a lengthy discussion on matters related to their employment in their organization - roles and responsibilities, expectations and the organizational culture. Prof. Rashmi Bhandary, Dean-Placements graced the meeting with her presence.

VTU Inter-Collegiate Mangaluru Zone Cricket Tournament-2022 for Men at Sahyadri Riverside Ground

cricket VTU Inter-Collegiate Mangaluru Zone Cricket Tournament-2022 for Men scheduled to be held during 16th to 22nd June'2022 at Sahyadri Riverside Ground was inaugurated on 16th June, 2022. Mr. Devadas Hegde, Trustee-Bhandary Foundation inaugurated the Tournament and speaking about the importance of sports, wished all the teams "Good Luck" for the tournament. Dr. Joyline D'sa, while addressing the audience, in her inaugural speech welcomed the teams and motivated them to play with enthusiasm.

Seventeen teams from various colleges of Mangaluru Zone are participating in this Tournament. Mr. Vasanth B, Campus Manger; Prof. Shailesh, Dept. of Computer Science & Engineering; Ms. Nithisha Rodrigues and Mr. Karnakumar K S, Physical Education Directors were also present. The inaugural match was played between Srinivas Institute of Technology and P A College of Engineering and the former won the match by 1 Wicket.

Dept. of ECE celebrated AAROHI-22

Dept. of Electronics & Communication Student's Association-AENCES celebrated AAROHI-22, a cultural extravaganza. The event focused on various cultural, sports, and technical activities for the students and faculty members. Mr. Rajesh Shetty, DFT-Senior Staff Engineer at Maxlinear Asia Pvt Ltd, Intel Technology Asia Pvt Ltd, Singapore, Guest of Honour spoke on the importance of the semiconductor industry in all sectors to accelerate economy. Being a student of ECE, he shared his professional journey in the semiconductor field and the challenges faced during his journey. Dr. Rajesha S, Principal, spoke on the importance of cultural events in students' life. He said "Everyone must take timely breaks from academics to restart and re-innovate in their respective fields". Dr. Yashwanth, Professor from MIT, Manipal; Dr. Shamanth Rai, Dean-Academics; Dr. Anush Bekal, Head-Dept. of Electronics & Communication Engineering; Staff Coordinators - Prof. Gursiddayya Hiremath and Prof. Sunil Kumar P were also present during the occasion. After the formal function, various cultural activities were carried out by the students.

Hands-On Workshop on 'Robotic Welding' by Dept. of Mechanical Engineering

On 15th June, 2022, Dept. of Mechanical Engineering in association with KCTU, IEI, ISTE, FLAMES and IIC organized a Hands-on Workshop on 'Robotic Welding' at COE Robotic Welding in order to enhance the skills of Students, Staff and local MSME's.
This Workshop started with the inauguration ceremony where Dr. Manjappa S, Director-R&D and Consultancy spoke on the importance of gaining future skills and also motivated the students and staff to make the best use of this opportunity. Dr. Rajesha S, Principal shared anecdotes of his life and threw light on how best one can utilize this opportunity. He further emphasized on using the Centre of Excellence (COE) to upgrade knowledge from time to time. Dr. Rathishchandra Gatti, Head-Dept. of Mechanical Engineering spoke about the need of conducting these workshops and also the reason behind establishing the COE. Prof. Abhishek K, Convener of the Workshop gave the essence of the workshop.
Post inauguration, hands-on sessions on MIG & TIG Robotic welding machines were held. Participants were made to practice different aspects of Robotic welding like job setting, robotic programing, parameter setting etc.
Centre of Excellence - Robotic welding is the state of the art facility at Sahyadri which mainly focuses on Robotic welding. The COE is supported by Karnataka Council for Technology Upgradation (KCTU), Bengaluru. At present, the COE is in-housed with 6axis MIG & TIG Robotic welding.

Inauguration: Antaragni of Dept. of Civil Engineering

Antaragni, the Department Fest under SPACE of Dept. of Civil Engineering was inaugurated by lighting the lamp by Dr. Mattur Chandrashekhar Narasimhan, Professor in the Dept. of Civil Engineering, NITK, Suratkal; Dr. Rajesha S, Principal; Prof. Hemantha Prabhu, Head-Dept. of Civil Engineering; Prof. Vijayalaxmi Kedilaya B, SPACE Co-ordinator and Mr. Akshay Mahadev, President-SPACE. Antaragni 2022 is providing opportunities for young minds to showcase their talents.

Dr. Rajesha S, in his address, sharing the importance of participating in such programmes, enthused every student to take part in the event. Ms. Shreelatha UA, Academic Administrative Officer was also present during the function. The inauguration was followed by Technical Talk by Dr. Mattur Chandrashekhar Narasimhan wherein he gave an insight into Alkali Activated Concrete. He explained why Alkali Activated Concrete has attracted considerable attention as an alternative to the well-known traditional Portland Cement Concrete (PCC). He presented a comprehensive review of the background, constituent materials, and the corresponding nature of the same.
The second half of the event commenced with the Bridge Building Competition wherein students got a flavour of what it is to be an Engineer - Designing structures to a set of specifications and then seeing them perform their functions. The event consisted of building a model of the bridge using Popsicle sticks and glue. The top teams were decided based on performance to take loads and aesthetics of the model. A total of 16 teams each consisting of 4-8 members participated in the event. Overall, a total of 128 students participated in the event.

Dr. Prabhu trains 600+ officers across the nation on IoT crimes

Dr. Ananth Prabhu G, Professor in the Dept. of Computer Science & Engineering and Principal Investigator at the Digital Forensics and Cyber Security Centre of Excellence, was invited by the Central Detective Training Institute, Hyderabad to train the officers across the nation on Smart Devices and Cybercrimes. Dr Prabhu, in his lecture, spoke about the various attacks on IoT, exploits, communicating protocols and predictions. He also mentioned about drone forensics and the tools used to extract data from recovered devices. A total of 600+ officers of various ranks across the nation attended this webinar.
