  • TCE organized a Prototyping Expo - 'Gamers Street 2022' for the first-year engineering students

    Technical Career Education (TCE) organized the Prototyping Expo - 'Gamers Street 2022' on 25th June 2022 for the first-year Engineering students in the campus. As a part of the Social Innovation Program, a prototyping course was conducted for 12 weeks, and the students were assigned a challenge to develop a game prototype for visually impaired kids.
    The Chief Guests - Ms. Harinakshi from SDM Mangala Jyothi integrated school; Ms. Divya from Roman and Catherine Lobo school for blind; Dr. Rajesha S, Principal; Dr. Prashantha Rao, Head-Dept. of Basic Science and Dr. Shamanth Rai B, Dean-Academics, lighted the ceremonious lamp to mark the beginning of the event. The Prototyping Expo witnessed 68 teams consisting of enthusiastic young talents building unique and innovative games for visually impaired individuals. The esteemed judges - Mr. Johnson Tellis, CEO of Technical Career Education (TCE); Mr. Gautham Nayak, COO at Technical Career Education (TCE); Mr. Gouse Khan, Innovation Manager at Technical Career Education (TCE); Ms. Harinakshi from SDM Mangala Jyothi integrated school, and Ms. Divya from Roman and Catherine Lobo school for blind evaluated the prototypes and the top 10 among the 68 prototypes were shortlisted for next round.

    Mr. Calistus D’Souza, Principal of Roman and Catherine Lobo Residential School and Mr. Ramesh Acharya K, Headmaster of SDM Mangala Jyoti Integrated School evaluated the selected top 10 prototypes. Team 6 Chargers consisting of Joel Rixon Dzousa, Nishanth Ganesh, Amrutha Shingankuli, Anvitha Rao K, M S Anjali, and Divya Poojari won first place, while Team The braille spell with team members Shivan V Naik, Muah, Shreevathsa, Prithvi, Thanvi, and Chaitanya won second place and Chethan, Sudheesh, Sanath, Shrilatha, Abhishek, and Ayush from Team Fanatic Cadre won third place.

    Industry Visit: Final year MBAs visit MRPL, Mangaluru

    On 28th June'2022, the MBA-HR students along with Dr. Vishal Samartha and Prof. Monisha Shetty visited Mangalore Refinery & Petrochemicals Ltd, Mangaluru.
    Mr. Gopinath, Head-Operations, in his session with the students, oriented them on working in the industry, processes followed at MRPL and various job opportunities at MRPL.
    The second half of the session was facilitated by Mr. Sandesh Cutinha, Chief General Manager, who enlightened the students through an interactive session in which various questions related to Human Resources Management were answered. They also encouraged students to apply for UGC-NET and be a part to serve the nation.
    After the session, all the students along with the faculty were taken for an on-site visit and various processes were explained.
    At the end, Ms. Veena Shetty, Dty. General Manager gave feedback and valuable suggestions about various aspects discussed during the presentation.

    ECE Dept. organized a Workshop on 'Business Model Canvas'

    A workshop on 'Business Model Canvas' facilitated by Prof. Roopashree and Prof. Naveen Kumar, Dept. of Electronics & Communication Engineering was organized by the Dept. of Electronics & Communication Engineering under the banner of IIC, IETE, and IEI for the sixth semester students on 28th June’2022.
    The Business Model Canvas is a strategic management template used for developing new business models and documenting existing ones. It offers a visual chart with elements describing a firm's or product's value proposition, infrastructure, customers, and finances, assisting businesses to align their activities by illustrating potential trade-offs. The resource persons gave a brief talk about key factors, parameters and the design thinking required in the business canvas model. This session motivated students and gave ideas to them on how to start a business and also solve problems in the society.
    During the session, student groups of ten each was created for a group activity to understand a Business Model by developing their own canvas for the problem statement that they had chosen.
