'Power Loom Training Centre for Women', set up by Dept. of Business Administration under the sponsorship of Dept. of Scientific and Industrial Research, Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India, was inaugurated by Smt. Umadevi S Y, CEO & Member of Advisory Council PES Trust, Shimoga, in the presence of Prof. Raman Madhok, Managing Director-Kahani Design Works, Mumbai; Prof. Govind Maheshwari, UGC Nominee, Sahyadri Governing Council; Shri. M V Balasubramanian, Chennai; Shri. K Pandiarajan, Former Minister, Tamilandu and Prof. T N Nagabhushana, Executive Director-East West Group of Institutions, Bengaluru on 19th March, 2022.

The Project titled - 'Socio Economic Development of Women Weavers Community in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi Districts of Karnataka' was proposed by Dr. Vishal Samartha, Director-MBA, Project Director along with her team members Prof. Padmanabha B and Prof. Samarth Shenoy, the Co-Principal Investigators which received a funding of Rs. 27.91 Lakhs. With regards to this project, a full-fledged "Power Loom Training Centre for Women" has been set up at Sahyadri by invoking the blessings of God in the presence of Mr. Manjunath Bhandary, Chairman-Bhandary Foundation; Dr. Manjappa S, Director-R&D and Consultancy; Dr. Rajesha S, Prinicipal and other teaching and non-teaching fraternity of Sahyadri.
This Training centre is set up with a view to empower the women weavers in the endangered tradition of weaving. The tenure of the Project is two years benefitting 140 women weavers. The introduction of power loom through the project will reduce the physical stress on legs and hands of women weavers, thereby improving quality and quantity of finished products. The main vision of this project is to empower women to earn their livelihood and improve the standard of their living.

Sahyadri edition of Smart India Hackathon-2022

Hackathon Sahyadri Edition of Smart India Hackathon-2022 was organized on 18th March, 2022. This fifth edition of Smart India Hackathon, provides students with a platform to solve some of the problems submitted by Central and State Ministries, PSUs, Industries and NGOs on the SIH Portal for different themes. Twenty-five teams have participated in the event. Each team consists of six members. Participation of female members in each team is mandatory.

On this occasion, Principal Dr. Rajesha S addressed the gathering and informed that many more events of such nature are in the pipeline and encouraged the students to participate in them. In the afternoon, along with the Principal, Dr. Manjappa S, Director -R&D and Consultancy interacted with the participants. Dr. Priya Kamath, Associate Professor- Dept. of Computer Science & Engineering, organized the event which was coordinated by Prof. Duddela Sai Prashanth, Dept. of Computer Science & Engineering.

Dr. Prabhu engages a session on Stress Management for Judicial Officers

Dr. Ananth Prabhu G, Professor in the Dept. of Computer Science & Engineering and Principal Investigator at the Digital Forensics and Cyber Security Centre of Excellence at Sahyadri engaged a lecture on "Stress Management and Positive Thinking" to the Judicial Officers at the Karnataka Judicial Academy.
Dr. Prabhu in his address spoke about various techniques to stay positive. He also explained concepts like The Nova Effect, De Bono's 6 Hat thinking, Didereot effect and narrated many stories. He also recommended them to read a few books- Atomic Habits, The Wisdom of Bees etc. The 2-hour session ended with an exhaustive Q&A Session. Director of the Academy, Judge Ramachandra D Huddar was present. The session was attended by 32 district judges and 30 senior civil judges.

MBA Faculty facilitates a Session on "Classroom to Boardroom" for MBA students of PA College of Engineering

Prof. Ramesh K G, Dean-Strategic Planning was invited as a resource person by Centre for Management Studies & Research (MBA), P A College of Engineering to deliver a talk on the topic "Classroom to Boardroom". The session was to enlighten the students about preparing themselves for the corporate world. Students were briefed about enhancing their skill sets along with the academics to be competitive in the job market even during tough times. Session covered topics like Value added courses, Certification Courses, Skill set enhancement in terms of communication and Aptitude, Updating themselves with current affairs, Upgrading oneself with the latest technology and Building Network with the outside world.
