Dr. Ananth Prabhu interacts with PM Narendra Modi’

Dr. Ananth Prabhu, Associate Professor, Department of Computer Science & Engineering interacted with the Honorable Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi on the 8th of May 2016 at the international airport at Mangalore. During his interaction, Dr. Ananth Prabhu briefed about project-based learning, research and the various unique initiatives taken up by Sahyadri for the betterment of society in the field of higher education.

Mr. Shravan Shetty, Astrophysicist from University of Oxford, UK visits Sahyadri

Mr. Shravan Shetty, pursuing Doctor of Philosophy, from University of Oxford visited Sahyadri and interacted with the faculty members. As committed to the institute, he made a visit to Sahyadri and addressed on the various aspects of Astrophysics. Though the audience were novice, he presented the topic in a very simple manner that everyone was able to understand it well. He introduced the topic with the planets and stars and went into the galaxies through his visionary telescope and made the theories of Big-Bang, and Black hole an enjoyable session.

He then took up the discussion with the students and answered all their queries. He made the audience realize the word of "passion and commitment" in any discipline. He assured total support to connect all interested faculty members and students for their interaction with the foreign universities of his contact as well as to appraise them on projects and proposals from varied funding agencies.

Later, he interacted with the members of DTLabz. He gave a brief idea on how project-oriented learning over marks-oriented learning can help students get into major universities. He appreciated the initiatives of DTlabz in encouraging students on innovation and invention. He assured to be a source of connection for students to help pursue their higher studies abroad.

He also appreciated Sahyadri for supporting such activities within the institution. He was optimistic of the professional growth of Sahyadri considering the diverse areas of Project based learning, Hands on Experience and focused Research in tandem with the industry interactions. Mr. Shetty is going to pursue his post doctoral studies at University of Wisconsin, Madison.

Industry Experts Interact with MBA Students in Exclusive Workshop

Ms. Pratiksha Pai, Chartered Accountant, currently practicing as a partner in M/S S. S. Nayak & Associates, Chartered Accountants, Bengaluru, engaged a session on finance specialization. She said that choosing a specialization must be completely based on the passion for the subject and strong determination and planning. She asked the students to focus on their academics and shape their dreams by sheer hard work. In her presentation she referred to a few famous personalities who grew up in difficulties but made it to great heights through continuous perseverance, positive attitude and hard work and asked students to walk the same path. She also spoke on alternative employment opportunities i.e., to reap the benefits of “Start Up India” initiative by Government of India. She said that the current generation has the capability of creating more job opportunities for others rather than being only a job seeker. India can move towards being a developed nation soon if all the youth work towards it.

Mr. Deepak K Rao, Founder-Director, Simplus Financial Consultancy Limited, Bengaluru, in his session briefed the students on the various expectations of corporate from a MBA finance graduate. He said that mere selection of specialization would not be enough instead one must work towards their personality in order to meet the requirements of the current organizations. He gave some insight into the difference between education and the current education system and explained the gap that exists therein. He asked the students to be self- motivated and energetic to achieve their dreams. He gave a brief on how money multiplies and the nuances of management of money and Investment Management.

Mr. Sajan Chowta, an alumnus of Sahyadri College of Engineering and Management and Business Analyst with MResult Services Pvt Ltd, Mangalore, asked students to be very clear on their choice of specialization as that would be a turning point in their lives and not to get influenced or coaxed by the decisions that other people take. He also gave them a brief idea on the reality of the job market and stressed on the areas where one could excel by taking up MBA finance specialization.
