SINCHANA 2021, a Cultural Extravaganza

On the occasion of Kannada Rajyothsava 2021, SINCHANA – Sprinkle of Talents, a Cultural Extravaganza was organized in Sahyadri Campus on 1st Nov’2021. Shri. Smithesh Bharya, Film Director and Lecturer at SDM College, Ujire and Shri. Pattabhi Rama Sulliya, Famous Mimicry Artist and Dakshina Kannada District Kannada Rajyothsava Awardee were the Chief Guests of the Formal Programme. While addressing the gathering, Mr. Smithesh Bharya, spoke on the importance of Teachers, history of Kannada and motivated students to practice ethics, follow the tradition and culture in every aspect of life.

Shri. Pattabhi Rama Sulliya entertained the audience with his talent encouraging students to follow their passion. Dr. Rajesha S, Principal spoke about the relevance of Kannada in this Technology-driven society. Prof. Balakrishna S S, Vice-Principal, in his speech, re-iterated the importance of Kannada by sharing anecdotes.
Cultural events lined up for the students to show case their talents were – Solo Singing, Group Singing, Variety Show, Traditional Dressing, Dance and Playing Musical Instruments. Students participated in events with great fervour organized at various venues inside the campus.

KDEM Signes MoU with Sahyadri

KDEM To lay the foundation for transforming Mangaluru into the next FinTech city, Karnataka Digital Economy Mission (KDEM) has signed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Sahyadri. This MoU aims to develop start-up ecosystem and Centre of Excellence in Fintech. It also intends to promote innovation and growth in Mangaluru. The skill development plan in the MoU focuses on creating a talent pool in the region beyond Bengaluru.

Grand Finale of Sahyadri Whiz Quiz 2021

The Grand Finale of Sahyadri Whiz Quiz-2021 was held on 31st Oct’21. Each participant gave a tough battle to each other. The participants had to go through mazes of intuited and mind-boggling rounds consisting of questions related to current affairs, music, movies, etc.
The winner of Sahyadri Whiz Quiz 2021 is Mr. Sujit Ray, Sri Venkateswara College (DU), Dhaula Kuan, New Delhi. The 1st Runner-up is Ms. Swasthika from NMAM Institute of Technology, Nitte, Karnataka, and the 2nd Runner-up is Mr. Samaahith Addoor from Symbiosis Law School, Pune, Maharashtra.
Sahyadri Whiz Quiz 2021 was coordinated by Prof. Padmanabha B and Prof. Ramesh KG from the Dept. of Business Administration. The Student coordinator for the event was Mr. Akshay L Sharma and the Quiz Master of the event was Mr. Rakshith Shetty.

Two-Day Online Workshop on ‘Cyber Security’ by CoE Digital Forensics Intelligence and Cyber Security

Centre of Excellence Digital Forensics Intelligence and Cyber Security, organized a Two-Day Online Workshop on ‘Cyber Security’ during 30th to 31st Oct’2021 with a vision of capacity building in the cyber security area with the support of VGST, Govt of Karnataka, Dept of Computer Science and Information Science Engineering.
Day One:
Cyber_Security1 During the first session, Dr. Ananth Prabhu, Professor, Dept. of Computer Science & Engineering delivered a talk on Largest Economy of world, types of Hackers, layers in the internet, Different Domains of Cyber Security, Job Market and Popular Certification in Cybersecurity Domain.
During the second session, Mr. Adish Yermal, Intern at CoE, demonstrated Steganography with different tools. He also added how information can be hidden in the files.
Day Two:
Cyber_Security1 During the first session, Prof. Harisha, Dept. of Computer Science & Engineering, delivered a talk on Different Forensics tools. He also demonstrated Wireshark highlighting how we can access network Traffic. He also shared the importance of SSL During the second session, Mr. Likith Salian, Intern at CoE briefed about Different Encryption techniques and also demonstrated the Encryption decryption with CrypTool 1.4.41 and Veracrypt tools.
A total of 140 students attended the Workshop.


CSE Faculty delivers a Webinar on "Practical DevOps using Microservices"

Webinar Dr. Shreyas Rao, Associate Professor, Dept. of Computer Science & Engineering delivered a Webinar titled "Practical DevOps using Microservices", organized by Presidency University, Bengaluru on 30th Oct’21 in virtual mode to over 50+ participants from various Institutes and Universities.
Key Discussion points:
• Overview of DevOps Methodology and Tools
• Explanation of Continuous Integration/ Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipeline
• Introduction to Microservices and their usage
• Practical demonstration of GITLAB and Azure DevOps Tools to showcase the CI/CD pipeline implementation

Book Chapter on ‘Energy Harvesting’ of Faculty in Mechanical Engineering accepted for publication

RATHISHCHANDRA_GATTI The book chapter titled "Variable Length Multi-Reed Cantilever Array For Broadband Vibration Energy Harvesting" authored by Dr. Rathishchandra R Gatti, Professor and HoD, Dept. of Mechanical Engineering has been accepted for the Taylor & Francis book series "Energy Harvesting: Enabling IoT Transformations".
