Chairman Mr. Manjunath Bhandary files nomination for Legislative Council polls in Mangaluru

Mr. Manjunath Bhandary, Chairman-Bhandary Foundation filed his nomination for the Legislative Council elections from the local authorities’ constituency of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi. It is a dual-member constituency and the election will be held on December 10th, 2021.
Mr. Manjunath Bhandary was into leadership in the early student days of school and college which opened up vast avenues for him to be recognized as a leader and thereby counted among the youth as a youth icon on the global platform. He is deeply involved in Indian politics for more than three and a half decades. He contested the parliament elections from Shivamogga parliamentary constituency against former chief minister Yeddyurappa in the year 2014.
With an Engineering background, Mr. Manjunath Bhandary who chose to enhance his knowledge in the social and political arena, has competed MA and M Phil in Political Science; shaping his outlook – a rare blend of being a technocrat and a social activist. He has the distinction of being awarded the doctoral degree, a PhD in Political Science.

Inauguration of FLAMES - An Association of Mechanical Engineering Students

The inauguration of FLAMES, an association of Mechanical Engineering students was held on 20th Nov, 2021, Saturday at 10.30am. Mr. Sagar Prabhu, Vehicle Geometrical Architect, Vehicle Integration Department, VOLVO group was invited as the Chief Guest of the event. Sagar is also an alumnus from 2017 batch. He addressed the gathering and motivated the students to take part in various academic, extra and co-curricular activities. He stressed on the importance of academics and basic fundamentals which builds platform for the job opportunities and carrier growth. Dr. Rathishchandra R Gatti, Head of the Department gave the introductory remarks about the association. Prof. S S Balakrishana, Vice-Principal, motivated the students to actively involve with the academic and other related activities. Dr. Rajesha S, Principal delivered the Presidential Address mentioning the importance of Mechanical Engineering course along with the multidisciplinary approach. Prof. Kiran Prakash, coordinated the event as the faculty in-charge of FLAMES. Formal function was followed by fun games and cultural programmes. Students exhibited their talent through the platform provided by the association.

Nearly 900 Students Turn Up at Sahyadri D K Athletic Meet at Mangala Stadium

Karnataka Athletic Association and D K Athletic Association jointly organized the “Sahyadri D K Athletic Meet” on Saturday, 20th Nov, 2021 at Mangala Stadium, Mangaluru for the age group 12, 14 and 16 for Boys and Girls. This Sports meet was a selection meet to represent District Team to the National Inter Districts Junior Athletic Meet (NIDJAM) to be held in Tirupati at the end of December 2021 or first week of January 2022. It is learnt that the national athlete meet will be first of its kind Inter-District meet where nearly 6000 athletes from all over India will take part.
In the athletic meet, athletes participated in 2 Events 1 Track, 1 Field for category 14 and 16 age group, and 1 Event of the category below 12 years.
The events for Boys and Girls under 12, were: 60 mts run, 300 mts run, and Standing Broad Jump;
For Boys & Girls under 14: 60 mts, 600 mts, Long Jump, High Jump (Scissors Style), Shot Put, and Cricket Ball Throw;
Boys-Under 16: 100 mts, 300 mts, 1000 mts, 80 mts Hurdles, Long Jump, High Jump, Shot Put, Discus Throw, and Javelin Throw;
For Girls Under 16: 100 mts, 400 mts, 1000 mts, 80 mts Hurdles, Long Jump, High Jump, Shot Put, Discus Throw, and Javelin Throw.

MBA Dept. organized a session on “Communication”

Dept. of Businesses Administration-MBA organized a session on the topic “Communication” for final year MBAs on 22nd Nov, 2021. The Resource Person for the session was Ms. Devatha, Faculty and Academic Coordinator MBA at Noble Institution. It was an interactive session which emphasized on three important aspects like in-depth learning, critical thinking and decision making. The session focused on out of the box thinking and its influence on life. Session concluded with individual introduction and group discussion to build confidence among students.

Campus Recruitment Drive - Evobi Automations

Evobi Automations Pvt. Ltd. conducted a Campus Recruitment drive for the engineering students of 2022 passing out batch. Mr. Sandeep Sanen, Director was at the campus to facilitate the entire process. Results are awaited.

CSE Professor Dr. Mustafa Basthikodi invited as Session Chair for IEEE DISCOVER 2021

NMAMIT Nitte had hosted its fifth IEEE International Conference on Distributed Computing, VLSI, Electrical circuits and Robotics (DISCOVER-2021) on 20th Nov, 2021. DISCOVER is a flagship conference of IEEE Mangalore Sub-Section and financially sponsored by IEEE Bangalore Section. A series of plenary talks, followed by oral presentations and other events were arranged to facilitate networking among the delegates. Dr. Mustafa Basthikodi, Professor in the Dept. of Computer Science & Engineering was invited as one of the Session Chairs for guiding the authors along with evaluating the oral presentation. He was also the reviewer for the IEEE DISCOVER papers. Due to the uncertainties prevailing because of the pandemic COVID-19, conference was held in a virtual mode.
