Value Added Course on “Data Analytics through MS Excel and Power BI” for MBAs

Dept. of Business Administration has organized a 7-Day Value Added Course on ‘Data Analytics through MS Excel and Power BI’ for the MBA students during 30th September, 2021 to 6th Oct, 2021. The course was facilitated by Experts from Noble Analytica, Bengaluru under the lead of Prof. H V Dinesh Prasad, Founder and Chairman of Noble Group of Institutions, Bengaluru along with Prof. Kavitha Agastheeswaramoorthy, Data Scientist; Prof. Roopa V, Data Scientist and Ms. Amitha Dinesh Prasad, Head Operations, Noble Analytica. The course covered areas related to - Introduction to Business Analytics and Advanced MS Excel, Business Statistics Methods, Laboratory Training on Business Analytics using Excel, Business Intelligence and Visualization using Power Business Intelligence.

Bridge Course 2021 for Engineering Aspirants

Day 8 of the Bridge Course was initiated by a session on Communication strategies which was taken up by Mr. Johnson Tellis, CEO-TCE. Further, a session on building a line follower bot using Dream Kit was taught to the students by the team of DTi LABZ. The afternoon session progressed on plane/aircraft building which was taken up by the team of Flotanomers.

CSE Dept. organized a Talk on Competitive Programming for Third year Students

On October 6th, 2021, Dept. of Computer Science & Engineering organized a talk on competitive programming for third year students. The Resource Person Dr. Mustafa Basthikodi, Professor, Dept. of Computer Science & Engineering, delivered informative session, which covered:
• Role of Programmers in Instrumentation, Interconnection and Intelligence for building smarter planets.
• An opportunity to think and act in new ways: Economically, Socially and Technically.
• Demands on IT
• Competitive Programming Vs Real-Time Programming
• Some prestigious Contests for Competitive Programming
• The Competitive Programming Format
• How to be a Competitive Programmer and Benefits
• Ways to Practice for Competitive Programming Contests
• Contesting in ACM’s International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC)
Students were very enthusiastic throughout the session and gained immense knowledge on actual programming Vs. competitive programming.

Roadmap for Third Semester students of ECE Dept.

Dept. of Electronics & Communication Engineering is organizing an Orientation programme for Third Semester students during 04th Oct to 19 Oct, 2021. This programme aims to provide insights to the type of subjects conducted under ECE, Upskilling to adopt various other competencies, how the subjects are grouped and how placements are linked to the understanding of various subjects. Dr. Anush Bekal, Head of Dept. shared his life experiences as a student and emphasized that as engineering students, they need to focus on project-based and problem-based learning. He advised the students that the investment done on knowledge gaining never goes waste. He re-iterated the need to orient the career towards product-based companies over service-based companies. Finally, he asked everyone to introspect and retrospect regarding Human values - respect to elders, self-respect, professional ethics and integrity he concluded saying that right attitude towards the professional course is the only path to the right destination.
The afternoon session concluded with the Laboratory visit. During the visit basic theory, equipment used, list of experiments, Do’s & Don’ts, safety measures and applications of each laboratory were explained by the faculty members.

Placement and Training: Campus Recruitment Drive – UniCourt

Unicourt Mangalore Infotech (Unicourt) hosted the Pre-placement talk followed by the first round of online assessment for the Engineering students from 2022 outgoing batch as a part of the virtual Campus Recruitment drive. The pre placement talk began with an introduction to Unicourt, their growth prospects, Internship, Perks and Benefits. Hiring is for the role of Developers and Quality Assurance Engineers. The package offered is INR 3.7 - 6 LPA
