Team Lowen Women secures 2nd Runners Up in B-Plan event at Manthan 2021 organized by FKCCI

Team Lowen Women - Ms. Krithika Shetty and Ms. Ayeesha Rasha, Third year Information Science & Engineering students have won Second Runners Up for the idea of a Dysmenorrhea Massager Belt which helps to tackle the problem of primary dysmenorrhea and received the Cash Prize of Rs. 1 Lakh in the event Manthan 2021 organized by Federation of Karnataka Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FKCCI). A large number of women are held back due to dysmenorrhea (the medical term for painful periods). They are unable to carry out their daily activities and resort to using pills for temporary relief, which causes many side effects in the long run. Lowen Women aspires to make women’s daily life easier by bringing them relief from this problem with their revolutionary massager belt.
Two teams from Sahyadri participated in the finale of Manthan 2021. Ms. Kavana Tilak and Ms. Dharithri Rai from the Dept. of Computer Science & Engineering and Ms. Preksha Alva from Dept. of Information Science & Engineering represented the project “Early detection of breast cancer” which was one among the Top 25 projects.
Manthan is one of the flagship events of FKCCI, the annual Business Plan Presentation Award Program that motivates the students to initiate the start-ups. The 13th edition of MANTHAN-2021 aimed at encouraging young minds to develop entrepreneurial spirit and motivate them to initiate start-ups.

Bridge Course 2021 for Engineering Aspirants

Day Ten of Bridge Course, the day of the Mega event was all about students participating in the competition and each student team competing against each other, building competitive spirit with great experience and memories. Initially, the day started with presentations of the Individual teams regarding their experience throughout the Ten-Day Bridge Course, followed by a competition which was divided into two phases. In the first phase, the student teams had to fly the RC planes built by them and drop the kits attached to it within a specific region termed the bull’s eye.
In the second phase, they had to navigate their Line follower bots through the arena and see-through that the bot makes it to the end of the finish line. All the teams performed their best and the best team of the first batch of Bridge Course 2021 was bagged by Team Sandbox scoring the maximum points overall. With bringing wonderful experiences and memories to the students, the final day of the first batch of Bridge Course 2021 came to an end.

CSE Dept. organized an Orientation Programme on “Campus Placement” for Second Year CSE Students

On October 8th, 2021, Dept. of Computer Science & Engineering organized an Orientation Programme on “Campus Placement” for Second Year Students facilitated by Prof. Rashmi Bhandary, Dean-Career Guidance, Training & Placement.
Rashmi interacted with Students by delivering an eye-opening session on Recruitment and the skills required for being placed. She empathized on choosing best Product Companies in the further two years of Engineering.
The Key Takeaways of the session were:
• Strengthening fundamentals
• Marks is a reflection of skills
• Hardworking and consistency in Scores are major goals for being hired.
• Requirement of doing projects prior to sixth semester
• Time factor is a must and not to be Negligent.
She stressed on the importance of Practice in Communication, Aptitude, Technical Knowledge, Coding, Group Discussion and HR Round of interview.

CSE & ISE Faculty Members completed “Train The Trainer Program on creating Microsites on Infosys Springboard”

Infosys_Springboard Prof. Pooja N S and Prof. Vanishree B S, from the Dept. of Computer Science & Engineering and Prof. Madhura Hegde, from the Dept. of Information Science & Engineering completed Train The Trainer (TTT) Program on creating Microsites on Infosys Springboard” conducted by Infosys Limited. During this Three-Day online training session, they have published institution’s microsite. A microsite is a one-stop destination that educational institutions can use to their benefit to host internal content with access exclusively for their faculty and students.
The objective of the workshop was to guide faculty on creating and publishing a microsite for educational institutions.
