Placements and Training: Impelsys organized a Recruitment Drive

Impelsys organized a Recruitment Drive on 18th of Oct, 2023 for the Computer Science, Information Science and Electronics & Communication Engineering students from the 2024 outgoing batch. The process commenced with a Pre-placement talk followed by Technical and HR interviews for the 30 shortlisted students.The results are awaited.

Workshop on New Product Design and Manufacturing for Mechanical Diploma Students.

A One-Day free workshop on New Product design and Manufacturing was conducted for diploma graduates and students by the Dept. of Mechanical Engineering, Robotics and Automation. About 22 students participated from different polytechnic institutes from Mangaluru and Udupi regions.
This workshop was focused on areas like 3D modelling, 3D printing, CNC programming, Robot programming, etc. The workshop started with a welcome note from Prof. Abhishek K, convener of the workshop. Then, the first introduction session was taken by Dr. Shankarmurthy H M. He emphasized the relevance of future technologies in the core fields. Prof. Yathisha K K. took over the second session. It was a hands-on session of 3D modelling and design using Solidworks. The Third session was robotic programming and operation, conducted by Prof. Adesh Padival, where the trainees were given insights about robot programming and operation. The fourth session was a 3D printing and CNC programming session conducted by Prof. Abhishek K, where the candidates were given hands-on training. The concluding session was taken by Dr. Rathishchandra R Gatti, HoD-Mechanical and Robotics & Automation Dept. on ‘Career in Mechanical and Robotics’. In his talk, he stressed on the new skills and the available career opportunities.

Finally, the workshop ended with introducing the candidate to the facilities available at Sahyadri through a campus visit, facilitated by Prof. Ajith BS and Prof. Suhas.

‘ABC of Business: An Entrepreneurial Talk 2023’ by Mr. Prasanna K R to first year MBAs

Dept. of Business Administration-MBA recently hosted a captivating and insightful event titled ‘ABC of Business: An Entrepreneurial Talk’. The event featured a distinguished guest speaker, Mr. Prasanna K R.
Mr. Prasanna K R joined his family business of Multi Brand Lubricants at a tender age of 18. His relentless pursuit of opportunities led him to become the distributor for SONATA Watches, a renowned brand under Titan Company Ltd. Additionally, Mr. Prasanna K R has successfully established a Jockey Showroom in Puttur and a Mia By Tanishq Showroom in Mangalore. During his talk, Mr. Prasanna K R shared valuable insights into his entrepreneurial journey, emphasizing the critical importance of mindset and attitude when embarking on a new business venture. He highlighted the significance of perseverance, adaptability, and a willingness to embrace challenges as integral components of entrepreneurial success.
The session concluded with a vibrant question and answer segment. The students had the opportunity to seek advice, gain clarity on specific entrepreneurial concerns, and draw from his wealth of experience.

Process Patent Filed by MBA Faculty Members

An Indian process patent titled 'Six-stage sole-partnership model for fund allocation to loss reduction in production and distribution' has been filed under the patent application number 023410699722 by the faculty members of the Dept. of Business Administration-MBA, including Prof. Samarth Shenoy Basthikar and Dr. Vishal Samartha, Director-MBA program. This innovative invention introduces a systematic six-stage process for collaborative production and distribution among partners, enabling individual selling. This structured approach enhances partnership coordination, optimizes production, and distribution while minimizing potential losses. The patented application is expected to be published shortly.

CSE (Data Science) Faculty Filed an International Patent in the Republic of South Africa

Dr. Navaneeth Bhaskar, Associate Professor and Academic Coordinator, Dept. of CSE (Data Science) filed an International patent in the Republic of South Africa, under the Patents Act, 1978, with the official application number 2023/07817. The title of the invention is “Sensing system, method and device for non-invasively detecting chronic kidney disease from exhaled breath”. The invention describes a method and apparatus for non-invasively detecting chronic kidney disease by measuring the concentrations of ammonia gas in the exhaled breath. Kidney disease can be quickly and accurately detected non-invasively with the help of the proposed approach. Due to the simplicity and affordability of the sample extraction process, people can have regular screenings for kidney disease.

ISE Faculty and Student Team Presented a Paper in 2023 IEEE DISCOVER International Conference

A paper titled ‘Detection and Localization of Lung Nodules by Accelerating Multi-dimensional Images using Graph Data Science’ was presented by Mr. Saiesh N Gangoli, Student Co-Author, Dept. of Information Science and Engineering in the Healthcare Track of 7th IEEE International Conference on Distributed Computing, VLSI, Electrical Circuits and Robotics (2023 IEEE DISCOVER) which was hosted by Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management and Organized by IEEE Mangalore Subsection on October 13-14, 2023. This paper was authored by Prof. Akhila Thejaswi R, Dept. of Information Science & Engineering and Co-authored by Dr. Shamantha Rai Bellipady, Prof. Rithesh Pakkala Permanki Guthu, Mr. Niranjan Bhat, Mr. Nishanth V Poojary, Mr. Saiesh N Gangoli and Mr. Shrikanth.
