AICTE-ISTE National Refresher Programme - Phase III organized by Dept. of Mechanical Engineering
Day Two (23rdApr’2021):
First session was engaged by Dr. Ganesh DB, B.E in Mechanical Engineering, M.Tech in Heat Power Engineering from NITK, Surathkal and PhD in Mechanical Engineering from VTU in the area of “Advanced Electronic Injection System for Diesel Engine with Alternative Fuel”. He has a total of 24 years of teaching experience and worked in various capacities like Vice-Principal, Dean-Academics, Dean-Student Welfare, Dean-R&D and HOD of Mechanical Engineering at GMIT. He has guided 8 PhD students. The topic for his presentation was “Collaborative learning enhances critical thinking – A Case Study”. He explained on how academics must be linked with the industry to solve various problems and to enhance the critical thinking ability of the individual.
Second session was engaged by Dr. M M Pattanshetti, Former Professor in Education, M M College of Education, Davangere and Research guide at Davangere University. He has a total of 45years of teaching experience and he has guided 16 PhD students. The topic for his presentation was “Preparation for Lecture and Laboratory Setting”. He explained in his session on how to be effective in teaching by using various innovative tools to engage students in classroom.
Third session was engaged by Dr. Kalpana Ranganath Kharade, a former elementary school teacher with teaching experience in urban BMC and private schools. Dr. Kalpana Kharade has scaled great heights professionally due to sheer determination and persistence. Her 100% vision impairment has never come in her way to achieve her well-deserved place in the academic community. She is presently an adjunct Associate Professor, a recognized PhD guide in Mumbai and Somaiya Vidyavihar University and visiting faculty at HBCSE. The topic of her presentation was – ‘Facilitating learning through PBL approach’. During her presentation, she mentioned the importance of Problem-Based Learning, Learning Approach, Critical Thinking and Problem Solving Skills.
Placement and Training - Infosys Off-campus Recruitment Drive
Infosys will be conducting an off-campus recruitment drive to hire freshers for Systems Engineer role. The drive is open for the students from both 2019 and 2020 passing out batch. The compensation offered for the role of Systems Engineer is INR 3.60 lakhs per annum. Additional benefits include health insurance of INR 4 lakhs per annum and a life cover of INR 30 lakhs per annum.
