Civil Engineering Student Clears GATE-2021

Aleema Safa from Civil Engineering Eighth Semester (2021 Batch) has cleared the GATE-2021 examination with a score of 343. Aleema Safa was indulged in GATE preparation from the fifth semester itself with a view to further continue her higher education in the field of Research related to Civil Engineering.

Faculty and Students of Dept. Of Mechanical Engineering visit KFDC Ltd, Mangaluru

Dept. of Mechanical Engineering has taken up a project titled “SUNCON”. The project focuses on building the next generation air conditioners using solar power. The project would be guided by Mr. Arvind C Kumar, Independent Consultant, External Guide and Prof. Ramakrishna, Dept. of Mechanical Engineering. In this regards, a team comprising of students and faculty of the department visited the Cold Storage facility at the Karnataka Fisheries Development Corporation Ltd (KFDC), Mangaluru. The visit enabled the team to get insights in the field of refrigeration and air-conditioning. The team also explored the possible internship opportunities for the students of Mechanical engineering at KFDC. Prof. Suhas, Prof. Kiran Prakasha, Prof. Vikas, Dept. of Mechanical Engineering were also present during the visit.

Kala Sangama, an Inter-class Cultural Competition for 1st Year Students

Kala Sangama, an Inter-class Cultural Competition for 1st Year Students was inaugurated on April 3rd’2021 at Sahyadri by Mr. Karunakar Polali, a famous Singer and Dual Voice Artist. Prof. Ramesh K G, Dean Strategic Planning and Prof. Prashanth Rao Head of Basic Science Department were also present during the occasion and encouraged the students to take part in cultural activities and strive to excel as a student in academics as well as extra-curricular activities. Singing competition – ‘Shruthilayam’ was held on the same day and many enthusiasts participated in the event. ‘Vinyasa’, Spot Painting competition; Tandava Group Dance competition; ‘Darpana’, Face Painting competition; ‘Tituka’, Photography; ‘Vaividya’ Variety Entertainment Completion and ‘Vakchaturya’, Elocution competition are the events that would be organized as a part of Kala Sangama 2021 till the Valedictory ceremony that would be held on 6th Apr’2021.

Interactive session on ‘Clean Technology’ conducted for the Faculty of Mechanical and Civil Engineering

An interactive session on the “Importance of Clean Technology” was conducted for the faculty members of Mechanical and Civil Engineering departments. Mr. K P Murthy, Strategic Consultant and Head of Sales & Marketing, BOSCH Power Tools, India was the resource person.
Mr. Murthy in his discussion explained the various aspects and importance of creating sustainable innovation using bamboo such as creating biofuel, structure for buildings, Bamboo charcoal, bamboo composite material, bamboo-based eco-friendly sarees, and clothing materials, and bamboo for drip irrigation. He also explained about various benefits that the institution can get by establishing the Cleantech Club.
Dr. Rajesha S, Principal and Dr. Ravichandra K R, Dean Industry Connect & HoD of Mechanical Engineering Department, and several other faculty members from the Department of Mechanical and Civil Engineering were present for the session. Sahyadri is looking forward to establish a Cleantech club under the guidance of Mr. KP Murthy which is in line with the community-centric education model at Sahyadri.

AICTE-ISTE Faculty Development Programme (FDP) -Phase II Inauguration

Dept. of Mechanical Engineering is organizing an online AICTE-ISTE Sponsored One-Week Induction/Refresher programme for Faculty members of AICTE affiliated institutes, Polytechnic, Pharmacy, Architect and Industrial training personnel on "Cooperative and Collaborative Teaching Learning Processes”
This FDP aims to provide awareness about the pedagogical approaches of Cooperative and Collaborative Teaching Learning Processes (TLPs) to faculty members and provide the necessary tools and techniques that can improve teaching - learning experience. Phase II - FDP is scheduled to be held during 6th to 12th April 2021.

Awareness Session on POSH at Workplace for Employees of Sahyadri

As per the norms of Anti-Sexual Harassment policy, Sahyadri is conducting an ‘Awareness Programme on POSH (Prevention of Sexual Harassment) at Workplace’ for its employees on 6th April’2021 from 2.00pm to 5.00pm in the Board Room. This is a collaborative effort of Dept. of Business Administration and Indian Society of Training & Development (ISTD Mangaluru/Udupi Chapter).
