ECE Dept. Receives Funding under Student Project Programme from KSCST, Govt. of Karnataka

Out of the 24 Projects approved by KSCST for Engineering & MBA Departments this year by KSCST under Student Project Programme 2020-21, Dept. of Electronics & Communication Engineering has bagged 6 Student Project Grants and two additional Inter-disciplinary Projects with Mechanical Engineering and also with Computer Science & Engineering. Every year Karnataka State Council for Science and Technology (KSCST) conducts the Student Project Programme (SPP) for providing financial and academic support to the Final Year students of B.E, M.Tech, M.Sc and MBA in Karnataka state.

This Programme was started by KSCST during 1977-78. Student projects sponsored by KSCST through this programme have been recognized by many industries and helped the students to seek employment.

Inauguration of Online AICTE-ISTE National Refresher Programme - Phase II organized by Dept. of Mechanical Engineering

The inauguration of the Phase II of the AICTE-ISTE Online Refresher Programme on “Cooperative and Collaborative Teaching Learning Process” was held in the campus. The programme has received sponsor of Rs. 3,00,000/- jointly from AICTE and ISTE, Govt. of India. Dr. Rajesha S, Principal welcomed the gathering and Dr. Rathishchandra R Gatti, Professor and the organizing Secretary of the event presented the schedule of the event. Dr. S Manjappa, Director (R&D, Consultancy) and Advisory Committee member of the event spoke about the importance of Collaborative and Cooperative Learning. Dr. Madhukar Waware, Deputy Director, e- governance AICTE, New Delhi was the Chief Guest of the event.
In his inaugural address, Dr. Waware stressed on the importance of Collaborative and Cooperative learning and appreciated the college for having organized the FDP. He also spoke on the role of teachers in nation building and called on the teaching community to serve the society. He also spoke on various pilot projects and initiatives taken up by AICTE. Dr. Ravichandra K R, Head of Mechanical Engineering and Chairman of the organizing committee delivered the vote of thanks. Members of the organizing committee, Prof S S Balakrishna, Vice-Principal; Dr. Nalini E Rebello, Dean-Academics; Prof. Ajith BS, Prof. Pavitra Ajagol, Prof. Soumyashree, Mr. Vishal Bajpe and other faculty members were present during the session.

Research Paper of Head–ISE Dept., accepted for Publication in SCI-Indexed Journal

ShamanthRai Research manuscript titled "Text Refinement powered by Artificial Intelligence for Tourism in Smart City" has been accepted for publication in Wireless Personal Communications journal. The manuscript is authored by Mr. Prakhyath Rai, Research Scholar, and Dr. Shamanth Rai, Head – Dept. of Information Science & Engineering.

Training and Placement - Anglo-Eastern

Anglo-Eastern Anglo-Eastern hosted the Pre-placement talk for the Mechanical Engineers from 2021 outgoing Batch as a part of the virtual Campus Recruitment drive. The briefing was about the career option in Merchant Navy, their growth prospects as Marine Engineers, Perks and Benefits.
Mr. S.P.S.Oberoi carried out the presentation followed by a QnA session for clarifying the doubts of participants.
Speaker’s Profile
Mr.S.P.S.Oberoi is a seasoned Mariner, having been in his chosen profession spanning over four decades.
Soon after having graduated in B.Tech.(Mechanical) in 1975 he joined Shipping Corporation of India as a Trainee Marine Engineer and underwent 8 months of pre-sea training. He started his sailing career as a Junior Marine Engineer in March 1977. Gradually, climbing up the professional ladder, he became a Chief Engineer in 1988. He joined Anglo-Eastern in January 1995 in the capacity as a Chief Engineer on ocean going ships and trading worldwide. During his sailing career till 2010, there is not a continent left on the face of the Globe which he has not visited while serving on ships. This includes the Arctic as well.
