Captured Moments of the Day

Tech Vision-2016

College Day

Tech-Vision 2016 held in the Campus

Tech-Vision-2016; an intra-college exhibition-cum-competition of student projects under the Student Project Support Scheme (SPSS) of the college, was inaugurated by Dr. Shashi Kiran Shetty, Chairman & Managing Director, Allcargo Logistics Ltd. by switching on a PCB Milling Machine designed by students where the drill bit was swapped by a marker to write the word `Thanks’ on a sheet of paper just like a drill bit would cut a profile on wood or a piece of metal.

Among many awards and citations that Dr. Shashi Kiran Shetty has received, in 2015 the Mangalore University conferred Honoris Causa (honorary doctorate) on him and he has also been honoured with the Rotary Annual 'Vandana Award' for the year 2016.

Dr. Shashi Kiran Shetty went round looking at various projects exhibited by the students. 200 projects of the II year, III year B.E., M.Tech. and 150 final year student projects were put on display. The chief guest was fascinated with every prototype he saw and was seen asking students many questions. The winners of the exhibition-cum-project competition were felicitated during the College Day programme.

Addressing the gathering, the chief guest said that he was truly privileged to be in the campus and was happy to see the wonderful ideas and innovations that students have come up with. He said he is truly impressed and overwhelmed with the many projects that he witnessed firsthand and that students were receiving accolades and awards when still in college. He advised that all these ideas need to be captured, preserved and marketed which he said will surely be done with a genius like Mr. Manjunath Bhandary, the Chairman, who will figure a way out. He told the gathered students that they were fortunate to be in the college.

He asked students to think differently, dare what they believe in and grab every opportunity that they can. He cautioned that success does not come easily but it is only with perseverance, hard work and ongoing effort that they can make success last. A Harvard study shows that only 3% of organizations survive beyond the third generation. He said that every aim of any organization is profit, but with more businesses, more employment opportunities can be created. He promised to involve Sahyadri students in research and ideas that he will be coming across during his new startup venture in the United States.

He complimented the management and the teaching staff for the vision that they pass on to the students. He said he was privileged to have a friend in Mr. Manjunath Bhandary the Chairman. He asked students to have an alumni setup where they can give back to their alma mater and he wished each and everyone all success in the future.

The eight student startup ventures were honoured by the chief guest with a plaque. He congratulated these entrepreneurs on their daring and encouraged them to keep it going so that their success will last.
