Department of Mechanical Engineering organized OFF ROAD ROBO 2019

The Department of Mechanical Engineering organised “OFF ROAD ROBO 2019” an Intercollegiate Robot Racing Competition. The event saw participation of over 25 teams from six different colleges and provided students an opportunity to showcase their technical skills in the field of Robotics.

The event was inaugurated by the proud Sahyadri Alumni Ms Ramya K., Asst Mechanical Engineer, KSRTC, Mangaluru and Ms. Saksha Shetty, Engineer, Autoliv, Bengaluru. In her inaugural address, Ms Ramya spoke on the importance of gaining deeper insights in the field of Engineering. Ms. Saksha spoke on the opportunities and challenges facing women in the field of mechanical engineering. Prof Ravichandra K., Head, Dept of Mechanical Engineering presided over the function.

Mr Kiran Prakasha, Assistant Professor coordinated the event.

Android 101 workshop conducted by DSC

Developer Student Clubs (affiliated to SOSC) conducted their first workshop on Android application development, to introduce the students to the application development world. Developer Student Clubs train thousands of student developers globally and work with their communities to solve real-life problems.

Google collaborates with university students who are passionate about growing developer communities and supports them with starting student clubs on their campuses.

DSCs provide students with the opportunity to:
• Grow their knowledge on developer technologies and more through peer to peer workshops and events.
• Gain relevant industry experience by solving problems for local organizations with technology based solutions.
• Showcase their prototypes and solutions to their local community and industry leaders.

The Android 101 started with the basic introduction to the Android Studio followed by the application development. Around 25 students attended the workshop. The students interacted with the speakers and learnt to build Android Application.

Campus Recruitment Drive

Arkieva
Arkieva conducted a pool Campus Recruitment Drive for all the BE branches of 2019 outgoing batch. Mr. Ashith B. Hegde, Managing Director, along with his team of 6 members was at the campus to facilitate the process. A total of 176 students from various colleges participated in the drive and the results are awaited.


Amazon
Amazon conducted a Recruitment Drive for the BSC and General Graduates at Sahyadri. Mr. Murali Manoj R., L4- Recruiter from Amazon was at the campus to facilitate the process. A total of 46 students participated in the drive.

Mrs. Ashwitha A. Shetty is currently working as Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering. She obtained her B.E. degree from Mangalore Institute of Technology and Engineering and M.Tech. degree from NMAMIT, Nitte. She has 2 years of teaching experience.

Introduction of Mentees:
• Srujan U. is from Mangaluru. He has pursued his SSLC from Vishwamangala High School and PUC from Mahesh PU College, Mangaluru. His hobbies are flying & building drones, photography, video editing, and building hardware based projects. As he is interested in aerial robotics, he aspires to give to the society technologies and wishes to start his own company in due course of time.
• Prajna C. is from Mangaluru. She pursued her schooling at KV No.l and PUC at G.D. PU College. Her hobbies are photography and playing musical instruments. She aspires to join a good company, serve the society and thus make her parents proud
• Aqueel Abdul Rahman hails from Kasaragod, Kerala. He pursued his high school from Apsara Public School and PUC from Chemnad Jamath HSS College, Kerala. He spends most of his leisure time in photography, drawing, and outdoor games. His aspiration is to get placed in a good company, lead a peaceful life and make his parents proud.
• Mohammed Arif is from Bantwal. He pursued his high school from B.A. High School, Mumbai and PUC from St. Aloysious College, Mangaluru. His hobbies include reading and playing football. His aspiration is to get placed in a good company.
• Disha Shetty is from Udupi. She pursued her high school from Jawahar Navodhya Vidhyalaya and PUC from Poorna Prajna PU College, Udupi. Her hobbies are dancing and reading novels. Her aspiration is to be placed in her dream company and do something to the society and make her parents proud.
• Shreenidhi S. is from Kasaragod, Kerala. She pursued her high school from N.A. Model English Medium School and PUC from HHSIBSHSS PU College. Her hobbies are dancing, and reading. She aspires to do higher studies and to choose a career in teaching.
• Siddhartha Kashyap is a resident of Bihar. He pursued his high school from GINTNL School and PUC from Oxford Sr. Secondary School. His hobbies are playing cricket, carom, badminton, listening to music, and singing. He aspires to join best company.
• Saivinay Shetty A. is from Bantwal. She did her schooling from Balavikas English Medium School and PUC from Sri Rama PU College and Diploma from Vivekananda Polytechnic College. Her hobbies are singing, dancing, and reading novels. She aspires to get placed in a good company. She also wishes to donate part of her income for educating poor students.

Ethnus is visiting Sahyadri to conduct the Pool Campus Recruitment Drive for BE students from all branches of 2019 outgoing batch. The recruitment is for the position of TYRO Academician.
