JavaScript and Node.js workshop organized by SOSC

Sahyadri Open Source Community (SOSC) in association with NodeSchool Mangaluru hosted a one day workshop on JavaScript and Node.js.

JavaScript is one of the most popular and in-demand programming language, with the world's largest developer community. The language also has numerous use cases, ranging from building interactive websites to server-side applications.

The workshop led by SOSC members saw active participation of 40+ students from Sahyadri, Canara Engineering College and PA College of Engineering. Students were able to learn JavaScript language and build Web applications, Command Line tools and Web Servers using JavaScript and Node.js.

Sahyadrians recruited by Ethnus

Ms. Pranamya A.Y. & Ms. Pooja Krishna Patil from the Department of Information Science & Engineering, Ms. Drishya & Manikya S. from the Department of Computer Science & Engineering, and Ms. Rachana R. from the Department of Civil Engineering are recruited by Ethnus for the designation of TYRO Academician in the recently held Campus Recruitment Drive at Sahyadri.

Summer Camp 2019 by DTlabz in Sahyadri Campus

Another day of summer camp started with a focus to bring out the best in the children with them building a security system with the assistance of the dream kit. The challenging task enhanced the technical knowledge of youngsters. Second activity of the day was targeted to showcase the creativity and to increase the designing skills of participants by learning graphic designing and creating wonderful posters with Canva. The real potential and hidden talents of the children were exhibited in the task of solving real time problems through ideation and mind mapping.

The final day of the Summer Camp was all about the campers working on completing the prototype of their project and implementing the project in the respective sites for the problem statements given to them. The students then handed over the prototype project to the respective owners.

The valedictory remarked with the end of the 4 day camp for the students. The students gave a presentation and a demo to their parents on the prototypes they had built explaining to them the design thinking and rapid prototyping processes they followed and about their past 4 days in the camp. The mentors also gave an overview of the student’s overall behaviour and mentality that they observed in the past 4 days. At the end of the camp the students received the participation certificates and a small momento.

MBA student wins Second prize in Auto Cross Bike Race

Ms. Namrasha N. Ganiga of First Year MBA won Second Prize in Souhardha Trophy Mangalore Auto Cross Bike Cross in the ladies’ class. The Bike race was organized by Team Moto Racing at Deralakatte ground.

Sahyadri Alumna addressed First Year MBAs

An alumna of MBA, Ms. Neema Shetty addressed the First Year MBA students. She is currently working as Technical Recruiter for Ian Martin, Bengaluru.

Ms. Neema spoke in detail about her job and also about the incentive system in Ian Martin and shared her knowledge about the beneficiary of the company. Adding on to which she also shared the challenges which she faced during the interview and gave students tips on how to build an effective resume.

It was a fruitful session and the students got immeasurable value from their interaction with the alumni.

Introduction of Mentor:
Mr. Denis Pinto is currently working as Assistant Professor in the department of Mechanical Engineering. He has been working in this institution ever since its inception in 2007, starting off as a senior instructor. He has done his Diploma in Mechanical Engineering at NRAM Polytechnic, Nitte. Thereafter, he worked for a private Ship Repairing Company at NMPT, Panambur. After joining Sahyadri by recommendation of the management he completed his Bachelor of Engineering Degree and Post Graduate in the same institution. He is sincere and committed, with a passion for any kind of technical work. He is having 9 years of industrial experience, 8 years of experience as a lab instructor, and 3 years of teaching experience.

• Abhijith is from Belthangady. He has completed his Diploma in Mechanical Engineering in SDM Polytechnic, Ujire. His hobbies are creating new things and working as stop gap firms. He is a humble person and wants to excel by way of hard work.
• Rakesh R. Kotian is from Mangaluru. He has completed his SSLC from St. Joseph Higher Primary School, Kulshekar. He pursued Diploma in Mechanical Engineering at SNM Polytechnic, Moodabidri. His hobbies are learning new things and playing Cricket. He wants to get into a reputed MNC and hold an executive position.
• Gopal Naik is from Karwar. He has completed his PUC in Government PU College, Karwar. His hobbies are cycling, reading and playing cricket. He wants to pursue industry career. • Srujan S.K. is from Puttur. He has completed his PUC in Vivekananda PU College. His hobbies are dancing, playing chess and music. He wants to become an entrepreneur.
• Vishwajeeth Alva is from Bantwal. He has completed his PUC from Vittal Junior College. His hobbies are repairing automobiles and machines, and driving. He wants to pursue his career as an automobile engineer.
• Shaid Hussain Shaik is from Uttar Pradesh. He has completed his PUC in Govt. College, UP. His hobbies are reading and biking. He wishes to become a businessman.
