Students from TCIS visit Sahyadri Campus Students from TCIS visit Sahyadri Campus As a part of their Summer Camp Schedule, a total of 26 students from The Cambridge International School, Adyar visited Sahyadri Campus and had a wonderful learning experience. At the beginning of the day, Mr. Ankith S Kumar, Student Counsellor, engaged the students with fun activities. Post this; Team Challengers demonstrated their aero plan models. The students were filled with excitement during their visit to the institution.

Developer Student Club of Sahyadri conducts a Two-Day Workshop in NITTE Developer Student Club of Sahyadri conducts a Two-Day Workshop in NITTE Developer Student Club of Sahyadri (affiliated to SOSC) collaborated with the Developer Student Club of NITTE to conduct a Two-Day workshop on Machine Learning.

Developer Student Clubs train thousands of student developers globally and work with their communities to solve real-life problems. Google Developer Groups collaborates with university students who are passionate about growing developer communities and supports them with starting student clubs in their campuses.

DSCs provide students with the opportunity to:
• Grow their knowledge on developer technologies and more through peer to peer workshops and events
• Gain relevant industry experience by solving problems for local organizations with technology based solutions
• Showcase their prototypes and solutions to their local community and industry leaders

Akshay Ram Bhat, Melwin Lobo and Afroz Hussain of DSC, Sahyadri worked with the DSC NITTE team to conduct the event. Beginning with the basics of Data Analysis, they covered basic Machine Learning algorithms used commonly in the industry with hands-on sessions as well. This workshop saw participation from 40 enthusiasts.

Campus Recruitment Drive - Strata Geosystems (I) Pvt Ltd. Strata Geosystems (I) Pvt Ltd. conducted a pool campus recruitment drive for the shortlisted students of 2019 outgoing batch. Mr. Arabinda Kumar Nandy - General Manager-HR accompanied by Mr. P. D Teja - Assistant Manager–QA/QC & Training were at the campus to facilitate the process. A total of 35 Shortlisted candidates from various colleges were interviewed. The results are awaited.

Ms. Pavithra and Ms. Ankitha C Kothwal from the Department of Information Science & Engineering were recruited by Everest IMS Technologies Pvt. Ltd. for the Position of Associate Engineer, Software with a package of Rs.3,25,000/- Per Annum, in the recently held Campus Recruitment drive held at Sahyadri.

MBA Faculty met Dr. Nanda Rangan, Associate Dean-International and Strategic Initiatives Prof. Ramesh K G and Prof. Girish Madla met Dr. Nanda Rangan, Associate Dean-International and Strategic Initiatives, School of Business, Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU), USA. The discussion was regarding the tie-up between Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management, Mangaluru and Virginia Commonwealth University, USA.


Discussions have opened up the following avenues:
• 18 days American Studies Program for students of Sahyadri during July-August every year
• Sessions by faculty of Virginia Commonwealth University, USA both online and offline
• Opportunities for higher studies for students of Sahyadri at VCU campus

Dr. Nanda Rangan was also the faculty of Mr. Girish Madla during his MBA program at OHIO University, USA.

Sahyadri participates in Human Chain formation for voting awareness Sahyadri participates in Human Chain formation for voting awareness Sahyadri students and faculty participated in the mega Human Chain formation organized by SVEEP committee and District administration along the coastal line of Mangaluru from Talapady to Shashihitlu. Our students performed flash-mob and Nasik Band at the Beach to attract the public. Our students and staff formed the Human Chain at Tannirbavi beach stretch.

Student Counsellor invited as resource person by BGS School Three-Day workshop on Cadence Tool for the students of Electronics Mr Ankith S Kumar, Student Counsellor was invited as a trainer for the students ranging from LKG to 6th standard during the summer camp organized by BGS School, Kavoor, Mangaluru under Shri Adhichunchanagiri Shikshana Kendra. He took up a session on “FUN LEARNING”, by conducting various activities.

Introduction of Mentor:

Mr. Rithesh Pakkala P. is currently working as Assistant Professor in the Department of Information Science & Engineering. He obtained his B.E and M.Tech degree in Computer Science & Engineering from Sahyadri College of Engineering and Management, Mangaluru under VTU. He is having four years of teaching experience. In 2013 he worked as software engineer in Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA), CET Help-Line Centre, Mangaluru. His specialized subjects are Formal Languages & Automata Theory, System Modeling & Simulation, Discrete Mathematical Structures and Operations. Research and research area includes data analytics and automata theory.

Introduction of Mentees:
• Aishwarya is from Kundapura. She pursued her high school from Amrita Vidyalayam and PUC from Sharada PU College, Mangaluru. Her hobbies are singing and collecting coins. Her area of interest is software developing and aspires to get placed in a reputed MNC.
• Chaya is from Mangaluru. She pursued her high school from SMFMS and PUC from Govinda Dasa PU College, Surathkal. Her hobbies are drawing and playing badminton. She is interested to work for a reputed MNC.
• Kavyashree is from Mangaluru. She pursued her high school from Indira Gandhi Memorial High School, and PUC from Vikas PU College, Mangaluru. She is interested in dancing. Her aspiration is to work for a reputed MNC.
• Nandini Kutty T.B. is from Shimoga. She pursued her high school from Government High School, Shimoga and PUC from Alvas PU College, Moodbidri. Her hobbies are listening to music, reading, etc. She aspires to become a successful IT engineer and serve the society.
• Rakshith Raju N. is from Davangere. He pursued his high school from St. Mary’s International School and PUC from Karkala Jnanasudha PU College. His hobbies are playing cricket, listening to music and reading novels. He aspires to become a good programmer.
• Shazil Mohammed M.S. is from Mangaluru. He pursued his high school from Milagres School and PUC from Mahesh PU College, Mangaluru. He is interested in football. He aspires to work in a reputed multinational company.
• Suhas H. Acharya is from Mangaluru. He pursued his high school from O.L.O.P.E.M and PUC from Canara PU College, Mangaluru. He is interested in ethical hacking, and programming. He aspires to get certification in network security.
