Chairman helps the needy with Groceries and Essentials during the Lock Down
In the wake of Corona pandemic, as many families are struggling to get the basic necessities for daily consumption, Mr. Manjunath Bhandary, Chairman extended a helping hand to the needy by contributing the much needed groceries and vegetables. The leaders of Adyar village - Mr. Pradeep Kumar Shetty and Mr. Madava Nayak also joined hands with the Chairman in this noble cause.
CSE Student on AIR for a Talk on “COVID-19 Lockdown – Miseries & Remedies for Students”
K Samarth N Kamath, a student of Computer Science & Engineering, was on a call with All India Radio as a student representative on 8th April’ 2020, 11:55 am for their programme on “COVID-19 Lockdown - Miseries and Remedies for students”. He spoke about the E-Classes on ICT mode that are carried out at Sahyadri and also on the network and data issues that students are facing. He expressed how different he feels from regular classes to online classes.
He also mentioned about the efforts taken by the faculty members in delivering the classes through YouTube videos, Google Classroom, Zoom platform and so on.
He referred to the difficulties that SSLC, PUC students and younger students face currently due to the lock down and how it would affect them in the days to come. He concluded his talk by mentioning of the hustle that would arise once the lockdown gets over.

Student Counsellor invited as resource person by Canara Degree College for online session on COVID-19
Mr. Ankith S Kumar, Student Counsellor was invited as a resource person by Canara Degree College NSS unit to conduct an online session for their 75 NSS volunteers on the theme of "Fight against COVID-19”. The session was conducted through ZOOM online meeting platform. Mr Ankith S Kumar explained about COVID-19, CoronaVirus, its symptoms, prevention and care, myths and misconceptions. Techniques of self care and hygiene were also discussed. Student clarified their doubts on COVID-19 through this session. Mr. Ankith S Kumar ended the session by explaining the roles and responsibilities of the NSS volunteers in this fight against COVID-19
Guest Lecture to first year students organized through Zoom Platform
A guest lecture on "Data Science and Deep Learning" was held for first year students through the Zoom Platform on 8th April’2020. Dr. Govindaraj P, a Post Doctoral Fellow at IIT Guwahati was the resource person. He gave an introduction to Artificial Intelligence and Data Science and also discussed the scope for these future skills. He also informed the students to take up certificate courses on these topics in Coursera or Edex which will enhance their skills as well as add value to their resume.
Dr. Govindaraj P completed his Ph.D at VIT Vellore and currently a Post Doctoral fellow at IIT Guwahati. He is an expert in Data Science and Deep Learning and he has completed his Ph.D. at Vellore within three years of enrolment. At present, he is working on Deep Learning projects. Prof. Prashantha Rao, HOD, Mathematics introduced the guest to the students and Prof. Sunil Kumar, Dept. of Electronics & Communication Engineering coordinated the session.
