M.Tech. Semester II Results

VTU declares the 2015-16 Semester II M.Tech. results. Production Technology (MPY-ME) and Computer Networks(SCN-IS) have obtained 100%, Computer Science & Engineering (SCS-CS), VLSI Design & Embedded Systems (LVS-EC), Structural Engineering (CSE-CV) and Computer Aided Design of Structures (CCS-CV) have obtained 92.86%, 91.67%,89.47% and 87.50% respectively.

Tomorrow at Sahyadri

Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management will be celebrating Graduation Day tomorrow and conferring degrees to MBA/MCA/MTECH students at Sahyadri Campus. Shri Ghanshyam Dass -Senior Advisor, KPMG will be the Chief Guest for the event. Shri Dass has an outstanding career in domestic, International banking and capital markets for over 32 years. He has been assisting KPMG team in the region to develop and further strengthen core businesses, by maximizing business opportunities, optimizing market synergies and complementarities across industry sectors. He is also associated with The Braj Foundation as a trustee, NASDAQ OMX Group as a Senior Advisor, STJ Advisors LLP as a Special Advisor and FIG Consultants as Chairman. His previous stint includes Intel Capital, NASDAQ, Majan International Bank, British Bank of Middle East, HSBC Group, Wells Fargo Bank N.A. San Fransisco etc in various capacities. Shri Dass holds a graduation degree with honours in Economics from Delhi University and a post graduation degree in Linguistics from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi.

Mr. Dayanand Allapur, Vice President & Head HR, Capgemini Business Services India Ltd, Bengaluru and Ms. Swapna Allapur, Vice President - Talent Acquisition and Mobility Leader - Shared Services, Deloitte U.S. India offices visited Sahyadri and interacted with the Management, faculty members and students.

Mr. Dayanand Allapur, said that one should be updated about the current affairs happening across the globe, latest trends in their respective fields and also stressed that one should adapt to the technological advancements. He said it is important to practically implement the knowledge gained and stated that the application beyond academics is essential. He advised to know the level of competition in the modern world to be at the forefront and also to have a unique perspective of accomplishing the task assigned to them.

Swapna Allapur spoke about the personal branding. She said it is most important for one to identify who they are and their strengths. Further, she insisted to focus on the same and start working towards making it even more efficient. She said one should be always able to adapt to the work culture of the organization they are serving. Youngsters should have the urge and curiosity to learn new things always.

Faculty Member Successfully Defends PhD Thesis

Mr. Lokesh, Assistant Professor, Department of Business Administration has successfully defended his Ph.D thesis entitled "AGRICULTURE CREDIT BY BANKS IN DAKSHINA KANNADA DISTRICT -AN ANALYSIS FROM BORROWERS AND LENDERS PERSPECTIVE” at Mangalore University. The research work was guided by Dr. Ishwara P., Professor, Department of Commerce, Mangalore University. The study gives an insight on the factors influencing, preference of a particular type of bank, utilization of the agriculture credit funds and the delay in the payment of installments. It does throw light on the problems in the process of sanction of the agriculture credit along with the management of nonperforming assets in the agriculture credit by the banks. This study is of help for different type of banks in formulating strategies to increase the agriculture credit disbursement and government for formulating the right policy with regard to the agriculture credit.

Student's Paper Published in IJSART

A paper based on final year M.Tech dissertation (CAD Structures) entitled “Optimum location of Lift core walls in RC framed buildings under different seismic zones”, by Mr. Veekshith K. R., Department of Civil Engineering along with his project guide Ms Smitha, Assistant Professor, Department of Civil Engineering has been published in IJSART Volume 2 Issue 7 – JULY 2016 ISSN [ONLINE] : 2395-105.
