Three-Day Faculty Development Programme Concludes

Three-Day-Faculty-Development-Programme-Concludes A Three-Day Faculty Development Programme for the newly joined faculty concluded on 2nd August, 2017. Mr. Ankith S Kumar, Student Counsellor facilitated the FDP focusing on the various aspects of personal and interpersonal development of the faculty. More than thirty five faculty from all departments participated in the programme. Faculty had enormous takeaways from the sessions on "Self Awareness and Body language", "Understanding Adolescence and Suicide prevention" & also Anger Management.

Bridge Course for Engineering Students 2017 Batch

Another batch of 180 new entrants started their bridge course. Dr. Umesh M Bhushi, Principal welcomed the students and inspired them with his words of wisdom. Post this; Mr. Johnson Tellis facilitated a session on familiarizing the new entrants to Engineering. Personality Development and confidence building sessions were also held.

The earlier batch of students was given a glimpse of industrial engineering. Students had a practical session on the mechanism of laser cutting machine and 3D printing machine, making them familiar with the world of prototyping. They were further given an opportunity to explore the world of prototyping deeper by converting their ideas into prototypes.

Semester VIII B.E. Results

Sahyadri 91.19%

VTU results of Semester VIII of B.E is declared. Out of 590 students who appeared for the VTU Examination 2017-18, 347 students passed with distinction, 184 with a first class and 7 students with second class.

Talk on "Understanding Mental Health and Adolescence"

As an initiative for continuous improvement & development of the in-house faculty, Dr. Srinivas Bhat U, MD, Professor, K S Hegde Medical Academy, Deralakatte and Dr. Rameela Shekar, Dean, PG Department of Social Work were invited as resource persons for a talk on – "Understanding Mental Health and Adolescence". Dr. Rameela Shekar in her session emphasised on the nature and characteristics of adolescence and the problems they encounter during their transition. She explained various scenarios referring to case studies. Dr. Srinivas Bhat U spoke about diverse psychiatric problems faced by the adolescence and also mentioned about some common cases he came across in his clinical practice. He also spoke about substance abuse and suicide. Dr. Rameela concluded the talk by re-iterating the role of a teacher in helping students to develop healthy habits and living. Dr. Umesh M Bhushi, Principal in his concluding remarks urged the teachers to transform negativity into positivity among students.

MBA Bio-Fuel Projects selected for State Level Seminar at NMAM Institute of Technology, Nitte

Two of the MBA Bio-Fuel Projects are selected for State Level Final Seminar/Exhibition to be held at NMAM Institute of Technology, Nitte during Aug 11th-12th’2017. These two projects are sponsored by Karnataka State Council for Science and Technology (KSCST), Bengaluru under 40th series of Student Project Programme 2016-17 and both the projects are guided by Dr. K Vidyavathi, Professor, Department of Business Administration.
